Another set of young aspiring future leaders experienced a real scenario on how
election should be done. They may win or lose, it did not define their personality but on
how they’d face the challenged as the journey went through.
The SPG election started with the filling of certificates of candidacy last
September 5, 2022 and on September 6, 2022 is the evaluation of certificate of candidacy
(COC) vis-à-vis qualifications and disqualifications because there are many who filed but
not all were qualified. There were so many factors that would hinder their candidacy like
their grades and more. September 8, 2022 is the announcement of the official list of the
candidates.
September 12-13, 2022 was the campaign period through presidential election
forum and campus wide presidential and vice-presidential debate. There were two parties
aiming for the position, the “ABANTE Partylist” and the “KAYA MO YAN! Partylist”. Both
parties had their Room-to-Room Campaign and had the chance to talk with their
schoolmates and elaborated their platforms. The parties had also their debate. This was
the moment were their schoolmates can really check their personality on how they face
challenges, their intellectual capability and emotional strength. They welcomed questions
from the audience and they both had the right to question their opponent.
During the election day, grades 3, 4, 5 and 6 casted their votes during happy
hour (3:00pm). Out of 146 pupils from Kindergarten to Grade VI, 90 pupils actually voted.
The committee on elections were composed of the outgoing set of SPG officers who
facilitated and led the counting of votes. Then proclamation of winners followed.
So far, SPG election were successfully conducted where pupils are given the
chance to participate and exercise their right of suffrage during the election.
