ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT
on
RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT

RESEARCH CONGRESS 2023

Last June 9, 2023, the Senior High School Department was able to successfully
conduct for the 4th time a RESEARCH CONGRESS with the theme “Challenging Social
Paradigms on Diversity through Research as a Means to Moving Forward”. In order for
us to learn as its purpose is to showcase the researches of the teachers and students
towards improving quality and governance of basic education, this also aims to
strengthen research initiatives and to advocate the culture of research in basic
education.

Prior to this event, creation of committees was done on May 16, 2023 and
meetings with the committee chairpersons and members and dry run of research
presentations were held on June 7, 2023 to make sure everything was prepared and
organized. In addition, scrutiny of possible researchers to be presented was also made.

The event started with the Philippine National Anthem followed by the Prayer
through AVP. The ever supportive Principal of the Canduman National High School,
Flora R. Ylanan welcomed the guest speaker, participants/presenters and the audience.
Mr. Almer L. Corilla the Senior High School Coordinator gave the Statement of
Purpose and Ms. Maria Ivana M. Mayol, Grade 12 Subject Leader introduce the guest
speaker Dr. Reynaldo V. Moral
In this event, the teacher presenters with their research title were Ms. Cherissa
A. Omega with the research title Estratehiyang Pang-iwas na Interbensiyon sa
Permanenteng Pag-dropout ng mha Mag-aaral sa ikalabing-isang Baitang” and Mr.
Francis T. Nacorda with the researach title “Modelong Tukuyin-Kilalamom-Organisahin
(TKO): Isang Lokalisadong Materyal sa Pagpapaunlad ng Kasanayang Pagbasa sa
Ikapitong Baitang”

The student-research presenters as well as their research titles were Michaela


Jane Cañete of Grade 11 Humss-D (Understanding the Financial Struggles of
Students: Challenges, Coping Mechanisms, and Implications for Academic
Journey), Alrica May Tagalog of Grade 11 ABM-A (Enhancement of Canduman
Senior High School Students Academic Performance in Face-to-Face Learning:
Post Pandemic), Erica Jane M, Garciso of Grade 12 ABM-B (Perception of Students
and Teachers on Ending Gendered Uniforms in Canduman National High School)
Lloyd C. Terol of Grade 12 TVL-EIM (Factors Affecting the Career Choice of Senior
High School Students in Canduman National High School), Phil Whiser Abarrientos
of Grade 12 GAS-A (Students’ Level of Understanding and Capability in Waste
Management) and Margaret Claire S. Ycong of Grade 12 Humss-B (English
Communication Profeciency of Grade XII Humanities and Social Science Students
in Canduman National High School).
After each presentation, research presenters were asked by the selected
interpellator and an Open Forum followed which was facilitated by Ms. Rochie Montes.
The giving of impressions was made by Ms. Mary Ann S. Dapiton a SPST 1
teacher. It was followed by the challenge for the teachers by our PSDS West 2
Secondary, Dr. Ronil D. Manayon, DevEd and accepted by one of the Grade 12 Humss
–B student, Mr. Meg Ryan C. Morpos and the challenge for the teacher done by Ms.
Anna Mie M. Arnado, MAEd-Filipino teacher.
To close this momentous occasion, reporting of program evaluation was made in
order to improve this activity the next time (see attachments for the takeaway/ learning,
comments/ suggestions for improvement and the program evaluation) and giving out of
certificates of recognition and appreciation was done.

 I have learned that there are lots of factors affecting in student reason why they choose
not to attend school anymore.

 I learned that there are many reasons that a student would drop out in school....

struggles and early pregnancy, and I knew the other reasons for their dropping out.

 There are still many students specially the grade 7 who doesn't know how to read
 I learned that the TKO model must be implemented in our school to expand the students'
reading skills

 Each researcher spots a different issue.


 Understanding the financial struggles of students
 Students presented different topics earlier but there are two researches that caught my
attention.

 It is important to conduct research because it helps us students to answer or find a
solution in every problem/issue we have in our school.

 Understanfing the financial struggles of students ang how they successfully cope them
up, the factors affecting the career choice of SHS students, the students' level of
understanding and their capability in waste management and how students perceived on
ending gendered uniforms in CNHS
 I focused more about the use of different statistical tools in interpreting the gathered
data.
