The MSC models are appropriate for handling biologically pathogenic samples or products (up to
level-3 micro organism risk BSL-3), ensuring ISO 4 protection (Class 100 according to US Fed. Std. 209D)
of sterile air in the work zone, as well as a high level of protection for the operator and the environment.
Principle diagram in Annex A1.
Use the same packaging base for the transport to its final location and is highly recommended doing it
with a pallet jack. The cabinet has two M10 eyebolts to help to position it on a raised surface. If there are
no mechanical means to position it, this can be done manually.
We advise against the use of lift trucks for placing the cabinet directly by its base. In such case, it should
be handled with care and it is also a must that:
- the useful length of the forks of the lift-truck are over 750 mm.
- the cabinet is fully supported all along its width (front (A) and rear (B) structural profiles). Direct
visual inspection during its handling is required.
For any handling during assembly or dismantling of the cabinet, appropriate safety measures should be
taken, such as wearing safety gloves or shoes.
Cabinets should be placed away from entrances, corridors, ventilation supply points, etc., which
might affect airflow in the work area.
Ensure the cabinet is set perfectly on the table or workbench in order to prevent vibrations.
Before using it for the first time, run the cabinet for around 6 hours to purge the filters. New filters
give off a characteristic smell which tends to disappear in a short period of time.
• 1.25 метра від центра шафи в сторону;
The plug connection must be located in such a place to prevent it from being unplugged
accidentally during operation, e.g., next to a wall or closed to another equipment.
WARNING
Unplug the cabinet from the electric current supply, in case of electrical maintenance. The cabinet
can only be activated from the button in the frontal control keyboard. The installation which the
cabinet is connected to should meet the safety requirements in force in each country.
Exhaust air should be evacuated outside the lab if working with volatile substances not neutralised
by absolute filters.
During normal work in these safety cabinets and because of a basic principle of recirculation and
depression in the work zone, no perforated surface in the work zone should be covered with paper or
sanitary fabric.
Ducting of the exhaust may be preferred to exhaust in the lab in order to, for example:
- Prevent from lab temperature rise.
- Prevent vapours from going into the lab, as well humidity (when using some toxic vapours).
WARNING! Ducting the exhaust to the outside of the lab creates a depression in the lab.
In case of direct ducting outside it must be installed and additional fan to the duct, a canopy, and
adjust the velocity parameters.
WARNING. When the cabinet exhaust is connected to an assisted/air forced exhaust system, it is
mandatory to install a canopy between the cabinet and the exhaust duct. This will prevent from the loose
By means of the handles “A”, the front glass can be moved from working position to closed
position. To move the glass pull it and keep sliding down the glass.
In case it is needed to clean the glass by the inner part (Annex A5.2) or if it is necessary to place
in the working area any big product or device, the glass-frontal group may be separated from the cabinet,
providing full access to both the inner glass area and the working area. All needed precautions should be
taken as the user protection decreases during that operation. The glass is required to remain in the closed
position before closing the frontal towards the cabinet. In case this is not fulfilled, the glass will not be
properly adjusted with the frame, and the user protection will be seriously affected.
Do not put the hands in the laterals of the frontal support, in order to avoid any entrapment risk.
All the material needed for the work should be free of particles and carefully cleaned before it is
placed on the work area.
Materials such as paper, wood, cardboard, pencils, rubbers, etc. should not be placed in the work
area as they shed a lot of particles.
h) In the event of using pipettes, only mechanical aspiration type should be used. Blowing the pipette with
the mouth should never be done because it is easy to inhale aerosols caused by suction.
i) When platinum handles are used, it is advisable to use electric incinerators, preferably single-use ones.
j) If the work requires the use of a gas flame from a Bunsen burner or similar, we recommend using a type
where the flame is maintained by holding down a button. Please note that the use of a constant flame
burner creates significant turbulence. Bear in mind that a flame too large could burn the absolute filters.
k) Shadows and turbulence provoked by objects, equipment and materials placed in the work area should
be studied before beginning to work in order to evaluate their possible effects. Bear in mind that the
laminarity of the airflow is not recovered until a distance of 2.5 times the diameter of the object that causes
the obstruction.
l) When using bottles and tubes, they should preferably have a screw top instead of cotton stoppers which
easily shed a lot of particles.
m) When the work is finished, all disposable products (handles, Petri dishes, etc.) as well as means of
cultivation, samples, tubes, bottles, etc. should be removed from the cabinet in impermeable bags suitable
for sterilisation if necessary.
n) When working in the cabinet and during cleaning operations, it is important to protect the HEPA filters
from any damage by avoiding knocking them, projecting liquids or splashing, etc.
o) When placing or taking out the arm rest, take care not to hit strongly the lateral glasses, in order to
prevent any damage of them.
Adjusting the seat and adopting a correct position enables the user to work safely and to avoid any
possible physical damage (sight, neck, back, etc.) Apart from protection for both the product and the user,
it is necessary that the cabinet is placed in a location without air currents, which may cause turbulence in
the laminar down flow.

WARNING
In the event of using this accessory, you should consider the normal precautions in the use of
these types of lamps. Their use is only suitably for previous external sterilisation of materials introduced in
the cabinet. That is why the lamp is a previous accessory to working in the cabinet and it is essential to
keep it turned off when the operator is in front of the working area or working on it. The SECURIT glasses
provide protection from direct radiation but UV rays are reflected on polished metal parts and can
seriously damage an operator’s eyes. That is why the glass front must be into the closed position to be
able to switch on the U.V light, then automatically the fans will disconnect. Vacuum tap kit Gas tap
kit
WARNING
Gas is a toxic and inflammable substance which in the event of an accident can cause serious
damage to the user and the cabinet. The presence of a flame within the cabinet creates turbulence which
affects its control and proper functioning, therefore we recommend you do NOT use burners unless strictly
essential and if the user is prepared to assume this responsibility. Gas connection should be done in line
with the safety standards of each country, region and company.

The perforated stainless steel worktable is divided into three parts to facilitate cleaning of the
interior container and provide for sterilisation of these parts into a vessel. Remember that every segment
or shelve has to be cleaned and/or disinfected both in its lower and upper sides. The parts will be cleaned
inside the cabinet while this is running. Also be sure of carrying out the cleaning/disinfection in the lower
part of the working area (surface and corners).
For the glass exterior part cleaning, it is recommended to leave the glass in closed working position. In
this position the major part of the glass is accessible. For the interior part of the glass cleaning, it is
recommended to leave the glass in its working position in order to assure the user’s protection.
WARNING
It's important to clean and disinfect the cabinet's working area, with the glass in working position and the
cabinet in performance. If it's necessary to separate the frontal-glass mechanism to clean the areas of
difficult access, bring the glass to its closed position to set free the frontal mechanism. By separating the
frontal-glass, the inner surface of the glass is totally accessible. There must be taken the necessary
precautions because the user's protection is lower with the glass separated from cabinet. It's necessary
that the glass is kept in closed position before moving back the frontal-glass into the closed position. If not,
the glass will not adjust with the frame and user's protection would be seriously affected.
WARNING
Do not put the hands in the laterals of the frontal support, in order to avoid any entrapment risk.
WARNING
To separate the frontal-glass, pull always only the handles “B” of the metal support, never using
the handles of the glass, that are specifically designed for the vertical movement of the glass.
WARNING
The glass is required to remain in the closed position before closing the frontal towards the cabinet. In
case this is not fulfilled, the glass will not be properly adjusted with the frame, and the user protection will
be seriously affected.
This plastic guard is completely airtight and has been tetsed against leaks with the ammonia test. It
consists of testing the plastic guard to a pressure of 80 Pa with an ammonia atmosphere inside.
Externally, an ammonia detector checks that none escapes. Tape he plastic guard with a cloth tape
(polycoated) (see figures 4, 5 and 6). Take into account that the plstic guard is larger than the cabinet and
to ensure a correct tight, folds are required and have to be well taped (two layers are recommended) in
the middle of both sides and the back of the cabinet (see figures 5, 6 and 7). Tape the lower perimeter of
the cabinet’s base (see figure 4 – at least twice round). To allow the cabinet’s cable to pass through, cut a
small hole in the plastic guards, pass the plug through and seal the hole with strong adhesive tape with a
polyethylene cover (Fig. 8).

K. For both cabinet and filter suitable fumigation, should ensure that the downstream side of the HEPA
filters and ductwork is exposed to formaldehyde for a period sufficient to ensure inactivation of
microorganisms that have penetrated the filter. This will require an exposure time of over 6 hours.
Fumigation is most conveniently done overnight.
L. Even after the treatment, the HEPA filters should only be considered to be ‘safe to handle when using
the appropriate protective cloting’ and no sterile. They should be treated in an autoclave or incinerated on
removal (Fig. 11). Following the fumigation, the cabinet’s seals should be removed and the extractor fan
switched on for an adequate period of time to eliminate the residual formaldehyde steam before using the
cabinet again or carrying out any form of maintenance.
WARNING
Formaldehyde penetrates with difficulty and his efficiency depends on the temperature and humidity. It is
more effective over 20ºC and with relative humidity of 65%. The use of excessive quantities can cause
polymer deposits inside the cabinet and can contribute to the filter blockade.
It is recommended that workers use proper protection to make decontamination operation, in order to
protect them from an accidental formaldehyde gas exposure. Mainly, they must cover the eyes with leak
tight safety goggles and, when necessary, use respiratory protection with safety hood. Formaldehyde
steams are very irritant for the eyes, throat and nose. Nevertheless, performing decontamination work with
enough precautions means that the operator will not face any contact with the gas.
Steps to follow:
a) Refer to local regulation concerning the use of formaldehyde.
b) Fumigation must be performed with appropriate precautions and by a qualified person with good
knowledge of formaldehyde usage. At any case, a visible warning should indicate the cabinet is being
fumigated.
c) Measure the needed quantity of formaldehyde to be used and put it in the formolizer (see table 1).
d) The safety cabinet should be sealed before fumigation to ensure that no formaldehyde can leak into the
laboratory or the other rooms. For that, cover the safety cabinet with the plastic cover. This plastic cover is
completely airtight and has been tested against leaks with the ammonia test. It consists of testing the
plastic cover at a pressure of 80 Pa with an ammonia atmosphere inside. Externally, an ammonia detector
checks no leakage. Check that the PVC sheet or PVC laminated aluminum sheet is continuous (one
single piece without any joint)
e) Place the PVC sheet or PVC laminated aluminum sheet below the table support of the cabinet (by
raising first one side and then the other side)
f) Switch on the cabinet, disable the socket inlets and switch off the fans
g) Separate the frontal of the cabinet and raise the glass to the maximum position
h) Plug in the vaporized with ammonia into the working surface while keeping the plug switched off by the
display control
i) Cover totally the cabinet using the hermetic PVC bag and letting go out only the cabinet power cord by
the lower part of the bag
j) Seal the cabling together with the PVC bag and the PVC sheet, with duct tape Sticking process details:
a) Duct tape with Omega shape covering the cabling 360º (fig. 1 & 2).
b) It is necessary to turn several times the cabling to guarantee a good sealing all around the 360º (fig. 3)
c) Raise the cabling by the free exterior part (fig. 4)and put another piece of duct tape (in red in fig. 5)
k) Complete seal the plastic cover, against the PVC sheet base, with duct tape, taking special care about
avoiding any folding that may lead to some possible leak (fig. 10-11-12-13)
l) Cover with a complete second round of duct tape the joint between the plastic bag and the PVC sheet
base (fig. 14 & 15)
m) Go to the formolizer menú and switch on the sockets by means of the display control
n) Go on the formolization procedure. Switch manually the fans after 10 minutes for 15 seconds, once the
ammonia is partially vaporized
o) Once the ammonia is fully vaporized (about 15 minutes), switch again the fans for 15 seconds and look
for leaks using the smell, and in case of not finding using the smell, try with a wet PH paper, and look for a
colour alteration
p) For a suitable fumigation, it should be ensured that the downstream side of the HEPA filters and the
interior of the cabinet are exposed to formaldehyde enough time to ensure inactivation of microorganisms
that have penetrated into the filter. This requires an exposure time of over 6 hours. Fumigation is most
conveniently done overnight.
q) Even after the treatment, the HEPA filters can only be considered to be ‘safe to handle when using the
appropriate protective clothing’ instead of no sterile. They should be treated in an autoclave or incinerated
on removal. Following the fumigation, the seals of the cabinet should be removed and the extractor fan
switched on for a suitable period of time to eliminate the residual formaldehyde steam before using the
cabinet again or carrying out any maintenance task.
r) For cabinets that recycle air into the room, the fumigation system used should ensure that no member
of personnel is exposed to higher levels than those specified by the relevant authorities. For example, by
using a suitable neutralisation system or temporary ducts to extract the exhaust fumes into the exterior.
Suitable protective respiratory equipment designed for being used with formaldehyde should be available
during fumigation in case of an emergency.
s) Once the process has finished, switch off the equipment in the same way, through the control panel.
