BIRTH OF LAS PINAS EAST NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

The Las Piñas East National High School traces its roots in 1986, when the
principal of CAA Elementary School, Mr. Floro Zapanta, opened the door of his
school to house the high school students. He started it with two first year sections and
a second year section whose classes were held in the evening after the dismissal of the
elementary pupils.

Like a healthy tree plant on rich soil, enrolment continued until the host
campus could no longer accommodate the increasing student population. This
prompted Mrs. Purificacion T. Aranda, Principal of Las Piñas National High School
and Dr. Maria Luisa R. Santos, Head of the Guidance Services of the same school, to
appeal to then municipal mayor, Honorable Rosalino C. Riguera, for a school site.
This triumvirate worked very hard in negotiating a school site at Verdant Acres
Subdivision in Pamplona 3. The noble endeavor paid well for a resolution, Resolution
No.116.89 series of 1989, was adopted by the municipal officials segregating the
4,000 square meters open space located in the said subdivision to the site of a new
public high school. The construction of a 10-classroom, 2 story building marked the
birth of Las Piñas East National High School.

To start running a new school means running a new system, and this has never been
easy. With the construction of an initial school building came more concerns. To be
able to hold classes the coming school year, the school still had to complete installing
facilities and systems necessary for holding classes. Electrical provisions were yet to
be installed, comfort rooms still had to be built, and the building was yet to be
painted. There was no budget necessary for all of these to be accomplished. The
Mayor of Las Piñas then appropriated P 100,000 for the construction of the comfort
rooms and another P 56,000.00 for the installation of an electrical system. After
completing the needed tasks.the school finally opened its doors for high school
students for school year 1990-1991.
The noble endeavor of the people behind the birth of the school did not go in
vain for the school remained truthful to its duty to the community. In February 1992,
the school was granted its independence funded by the local government. In 1997,
after hurdling all challenges that a public high school could possibly meet, the
Department of Education recognized the school's accomplishments and was given the
national status in its operation. Guided by its vision to accomplish its mission, the Las
Piñas East National Highs School remains faithful to its call to provide quality
education for all, to be able to produce students who are assets and pride of the
Filipino society.
