SAP Tech Career Connect!

How do I apply for a job?

All information about our current job openings and how to apply for them can be found on our job
landing page, which is explicitly created for this event. The landing page is divided according to
different countries. Each country then shows all tech jobs that are currently vacant in this region. You
can use the search function to filter the jobs by keywords to find a suitable position. Once you’ve
found one, just click on the apply button and fill in the information. We are looking forward to
receiving your application.

How does the recruiting process work?

SAP operates a “no more than 4”, which means that there are no more than 4 stages, hours or
interviewers per stage. Usually, the interview process for tech hires consists of 3 different stages. After
you have applied for a position via our website, the Talent Attraction team will review your documents
and, if your skills and experience look interesting for the role, we will invite you for an interview with
a Recruiter, usually via video. Once you have successfully completed this step, you would be invited
to the next interview with the Hiring Owner. If shortlisted for a final interview, you would usually meet
up to 3 diverse interviewers in a 1:1. Each of them focuses on a different technical area and
competency. A fourth interview may be required in high volume applicant locations, in countries
where it is the cultural norm to have a final HR interview or for positions with a remote reporting
structure, high seniority level or high stakeholder complexity.

Can I make an initiative application?

Due to our internal processes, it is not possible to make an initiative application, but only to open
positions. If you don't find a suitable position at the moment, please check our careers page regularly
and join our talent community, to allow recruiters around the globe to contact you directly if they see
a fit for an open position. Lastly, make sure to also enable the job alert. This way, you’ll be informed
directly when a new position is posted that you could be interested in.

How are technical skills tested in the application process?

Many tech teams leverage our global tech assessment platform to provide data-driven insights to
support hiring decisions. An assessment would typically be requested by your Talent Attraction
Partner after the second interview with the Hiring Owner to help with shortlisting. The technical skills
tested depend on the job you are applying for. Example assessments could be multiple-choice tasks
that take about 10 minutes to complete, or an online coding simulation that assesses programming
skills using an intuitive coding environment that takes about 1 hour to complete. Not every team uses
a technical assessment, but we believe it is the best way to objectify hiring decisions and ensure we
hire the best and most diverse technical talent.
Who usually participates in interviews?

First, you would meet someone from our Talent Attraction team, then the Hiring Owner and at a later
stage the Interview Scrum team. A fourth stakeholder interview might be required in some high-
volume applicant locations, or in countries where it is the cultural norm to have a final HR interview
or for positions with a remote reporting structure, high seniority level or high stakeholder complexity.

How long does the application process take?

Since multiple stakeholders are involved in the interview process such as Talent Attraction, Hiring
Owner, our final Interview Scrum Team as well as out Data Management team who prepare the
contract, this cannot be answered exactly. We also have differing legislation in each country regarding
mandatory timelines to post each position and are laser focused on ensuring fairness, objectively and
inclusivity in the process. Generally, the process takes between 4 weeks and 3 months.

What are the salary prospects?

SAP’s global compensation framework provides the foundation for transparent and fair pay by
creating comparable expectations of a role as well as consistent career levels and recommended pay
ranges visible to every employee. We offer a pay package that includes a competitive Total Target
Cash and attractive benefits. Furthermore, SAP ensures our pay packages remain competitive through
our internal benchmarking system to compare external marketplace via our market intelligence
process.

How can I imagine the onboarding?

In addition to global onboarding, there is team-specific onboarding and the assignment of a buddy
who supports the new employee in terms of content and organization. There are also regular feedback
sessions and local information and events provided by HR.

What tips can you give me for a successful application?

At the beginning of the application, a meaningful letter of motivation regarding the position, the area
and the topic of the team is advantageous. In addition, applicants should include projects relevant to
the position in their CV and present their skills in a comprehensible way. A collection and illustration
of previous projects can be helpful here. Furthermore, we appreciate you being your authentic self,
bringing your personality across, and recommend taking the opportunity to get to know the team
members and ask questions here.
