1. SUMMARIZE MAIN CHARACTERS OF EACH APPROACHES

The Montessori approaches

• Learning environment-The child-sized furniture’s and equipped

are viewed as important.
• Learning activities –Most common learning activities are
intermixed into music, art, movement and some group games.
• The role of teachers-The main role of teachers is to observe the
children

The Reggio Emilia approach

• Learning-The Reggio Emilia model considers creativity and

learning as the intermixed. Many children learn by engaging in project which
connect the knowledge and creativity in order to gain sight. They usually work
together in small groups because this Reggio Emilia is based on the semi
structure frame work.

• Learning materials-The learning of Reggio Emilia it is materials

rich environments which consist of art materials, papers, clay and tools as
well as the writing, drawing and sculpting materials. There are also shelves
that are filled with boxes of fabric ribbons.
• Reggio time-In the Reggio time individual’s paces for
achievement are respected. There is also daily structure of arrival meeting
time, lunch, nap time and departure the interest of children determine how
their time spend

The high Scope approaches

• The role of a teacher –The teachers need to use the children’s

interest in planning the activities, and while facilitating learning they should
constantly encourage and engage in constructive teacher to learner
interaction strategies
• Learning material-There are materials that are found in high
scope in preschool which are not meant for the teachers directly .In this
philosophy children are allowed to choose their own materials and their
choices base on their interest.
• Curriculum-The curriculum is based on the ten content areas
that comprise social developments the visual and the performing arts and also
reading and maths and science

The project approaches

• Beginning the project-There must be an understanding key of

the concepts that needs to be determined by the teacher, the teachers and
children need to determine questions to guide their investigation and also the
parents need to be informed about the project
• Developing the project -The children become involve in the field
work and they have conversations with the experts, the teacher will have to
provide resources and also the teacher must suggest different ways of finding
information.
• Concluding the project –Children will then need to share their
ideas and knowledge with the class, principal and the parents as well, the new
knowledge is personalised trough art and drama.
