    The ocean provides essential resources and services that support human life and the global economy. It produces over half of the oxygen we breathe and absorbs a quarter of the carbon dioxide produced by humans. Additionally, the ocean transports over 95% of goods traded worldwide, houses more biodiversity than land, and directly or indirectly supports the livelihoods of over 3 billion people through activities like fishing, tourism, and offshore oil extraction. However, human impacts like pollution, climate change, and overfishing threaten the ocean's health and ability to sustain life. Effective management and protection of ocean resources will be critical to support growing demands on the ocean economy in the coming decades.
