A Science Class Planning


Topic: Solar System Subject: Science class

English Level: A2 Age: 10 years old.

Grade: 6th E.G.B Class Size: 20 Students

Time management: 40 minutes

Methodology: Language Content Integration

A warm up. ( 5 minutes)

● The teacher will greet the students and explain the activity.
● Next, the teacher will show the students some cards on which the names of the
planets are: Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.

● Next, the teacher will show the students the cards and give them some clues for the
students to guess the name of the planet, for example, the teacher will mention the
first clue: This planet is the closest planet to the Sun! and the student who knows
the answer to the name of the planet should raise his/her hand and mention It's the
planet Mercury!
● The whole class should participate in the activity and finally the teacher should
congratulate the students for their knowledge and collaboration in the activity.

Development of the class (20 minutes)

Step 1.-The teacher introduces the vocabulary with flashcards such as: Planets- moon-
sun-galaxy-meteors, etc.

Step2: The educator give specific prepositions relevant to the solar system (around,
between, beyond, near, far and "within) then students will be a practice the activity in
(Quizizz)

Step 3: In the next activity the students reinforce your vocabulary about names of planets
through Wordwall.

Closing (5 minutes)

● At the end of the class, students will carry out a collaborative activity with their
classmates, '' The Trivia Time ''. This work consists of remembering the
guidelines given by the teacher and answering the questions that will be asked at
random. Then the teacher will start showing the flashcard of the sun and a planet
and using the prepositions already seen in class the group will have to say if the
planet is far away, near, in the middle or below the sun. For example the teacher
shows a flashcard of the planet Jupiter far away from the sun then the students must
remember the correct preposition and complete.

Formative assessment:

The teacher will explain to the students what the assessment consists of and what skill will
be. Speaking is the skill of choice.
The students will answer certain questions that the teacher will ask each of them, using
pictures.They should practice the prepositions and formulate sentences with the vocabulary
they have learned (solar system).
Correction method:
● This method consists of oral correction of the use of prepositions by correcting the
students' pronunciation when applying the learned grammar.
● Using the Flipgrid application the teacher will correct certain pronunciation and
grammar errors by means of a video where the error will be written on a sheet of
paper which will proceed to the required correction of a certain sentence.
