ASPECT OF SOCIETY PRE-COLONIAL PERIOD
The Government of pre-colonial period was
different, In this colonial Filipinos had a freedom,
even they had a Datu (leader) they didn’t have a
System of Government law everyone has equality especially in women,
they were uncivilized, as matter of fact they had
their own laws they law are orally passed and
written by there datu.
In this colonial people had they composed three
groups of people, they had a the nobles, the
freeman, and the dependents the nobles was
Social Status of the consisted of datu and their families the freemen
Population were composed of free peoples and dependents
who earned freedom their role was to help the datu
in the activities that involve welfare of the barangay
In this colonial they believe polytheism which
means that they had one or more god to worship
and they considers “babaylan”(women) as they
religious or spiritual leaders, they consider Bathala
Religion
as the creator of earth and all living things that He
was the superior deity compared to other gods they
also worship or adored animals, plants and all
nature objects as something they could respected.
SPANISH PERIOD
As the spanish colonial changed the institution of the Pre-
colonial they changed the laws they force the people who
were living to transfer in designated area and they build
poblacions where the major government was located and
they force Filipinos to pay taxes, and they haunt down those
native Filipinos who refuse to follow the system.
There are new colonial, there’s no equality they see Filipinos
as poor, may Filipinos suffered from poverty, they had they
own social status, those who are in the middle class are
those can only afford the life and daily expenses, at spanish
hierarchy it resulted to a racism and discrimination, and
abuse, they even called Filipinos and indio, and the most
lowest standing of society are the sangleys.
Under the spanish colonial regime, they changed the native
Filipinos perspetive of beliefs, the teach native Filipinos the
way of wearing clothes and they also teach native filipinos
as the servant of one God, the prominent role of the church
was ruling the native filipino, the filipinos follow the rules of
“frailocracy” which the priest was the highest and the one
who helped the colonization the priest used the religion to
accumulate economic wealth and power.
 In this colonial they had their own laws as matter of
fact they had there own freewill and the women
and men are equal in making life aspects, the
Laws people on the barangay did not act to what they
wanted, they do not follow rules, there laws was
passed down orally from generation to generation
and written by those datu’s and its advisers.
In spanish colonial, the spaniards had a lot of laws to follow
especially in religion, they teach native filipino people to
follow the law and because of this law native filipinos lost
their true identity, the friars also controlled the society and
even the laws and they control everything included the
education system.
