Location Product Substitution (Shelf Life Distribution Planning Heuristic)

• You can use a simplified version of location product substitution with the time-series supply planning shelf
life distribution planning heuristic.

• This simplified version for the shelf life distribution planning heuristic is only available for independent
demand at locations, and substitutes the leading (originally-requested) product with one or more substitute
products, according to a defined order of priority.

• The shelf life distribution planning heuristic first satisfies independent demand with receipts for the leading
product from the available supply network. If, during processing, the requested quantity can't be fully met,
the algorithm tries to use the first specified substitute product, that is, the substitute product with the highest
priority. If, after this, there's still not enough supply, the algorithm moves to the next substitute product until
the supply can be met.

PUBLIC 5
Location Product Substitution (Shelf Life Distribution Planning Heuristic)
You use the Location Product Substitution (LOCATIONPRODUCTSUB) master data type to specify a leading
product and all its possible substitute products by defining the following attributes:
Attribute Attribute Name Key (X) Required (X) Comments
PRDID Product ID X X Leading location product
LOCID Location ID X X Location of the product
SPRDID Substitute Product ID X X Substitute location product
LPSVALIDFR Loc-Prod Subst Valid-From Date X X Start of time interval (valid from)
during which the leading product can
be substituted, in the
format yyyy:mm:dd hh:mm:ss.
LPSVALIDTO Loc-Prod Subst Valid-To Date End of time interval (valid to) during
which the leading product can be
substituted, in the format yyyy:mm:dd
hh:mm:ss.

LOCPRODSUBSTPRIORITY Substitution Priority Order in which substitutions are

attempted. The lower the value, the
higher the priority. For example, 0
(zero) is the highest priority.
The substitution order is unspecified if
different substitute products have the
same priority.
REASON Substitution Reason Substitution

Substitution of the leading product with the substitute product is recorded in the Location Product Substitution
Supply (LPSUBSTITUTIONSUPPLY) and Location Product Substitution Receipts (LPSUBSTITUTIONRECEIPT) key
figures.

Planning Run Monitor Enhancements

• When you use the Planning Run Monitor app to monitor time-series-based supply planning runs, you can
now view the IDs you're familiar with, rather than the internal IDs that were previously shown.

• This makes these items easier to identify and improves usability. For example, if you have a product with
the ID of PRODUCT2, you can now see this product ID in the Product column, whereas previously it was
shown as something like 29 (internal ID). Similarly, previously Period was shown as 5 (simply a number),
but now it's shown as a recognizable month and year, MAY 2019

• You can view the mapping from internal IDs to IDs when you choose the ID to Name Mapping item in the navigation tree
on the left.

PUBLIC 8
New Values for Compute Expected Supply Parameters in S&OP Operator
Profiles App
• We've introduced new values for the Compute Expected Supply for
Transport and Compute Expected Supply for Production primary
parameters in the S&OP Operator Profiles app, available with selected
algorithms only.

• Both parameters change from a checkbox to a dropdown list, with one

additional option available for each.

Compute Expected Supply for Transport

• As well as the existing options, you now have an additional choice in a

dropdown list: Compute Expected Supply with Adjusted Transports

• In addition to computing the expected supply, the algorithm also considers

the value in the Adjusted Transport Receipts (ADJUSTEDTRANSPORT)
key figure.

• This new option is only available for the infinite heuristic and the time-
series-based shelf life planning heuristic.

PUBLIC 9
New Values for Compute Expected Supply Parameters in S&OP Operator
Profiles App

Compute Expected Supply for Production

• As well as the existing options, you now have an additional choice in a

dropdown list: Use Last Component Supply

• The algorithm fixes the supply of selected components for output

products outside the selected subnetwork to their calculated supply
when the components were selected for planning without the outside
output products (it takes the fixed component supply from the Inter-
Subnetwork Production Component
Supply (IPUPRODUCTIONCOMPONENTDS) key figure).

• This new option is only available for the optimizer and the finite
heuristic. It isn't visible for other heuristic types or other planning
algorithms.

Change the Equipment Type of a Transportation Load

• In Planner Workspaces app, the

Transportation Load Building component
now allows for changing the equipment type
of a transportation load. The action button
„Change Equipment Type“ is located at the
top right corner of the load details section.

• The dialog „Select Equipment Types“ shows

for all other equipment types that are
assigned to the transportation group the
projected equipment consumption. A click on
a type will change the load to the new
equipment type.

• If the current equipment type of the load is

the only valid type then the action stops with
an information that the current type is the
only valid type.
PUBLIC 13
Move Items to Another Transportation Load

• The action „Move“ is active if at least one load

item is selected

• Select one or multiple load items and choose

„Move“ to add them to another transportation
load

• Items can only be moved to a load that has the

same transportation group and goods receipt
date. The dialog „Select Load“ shows the list of
all loads to which the items can be moved
including a projected equipment consumption.

• A click on a load removes the selected items

from the current load and adds them to the
chosen load. The equipment consumption of
the source and the target load is updated. The
focus remains on the source load.

• If there is no matching load then the action

stops with the information that no matching
load can be found

PUBLIC 14
Change the Quantity of a Distribution Order in the Transportation Load
Building Component of Planner Workspaces App

• The quantity of a planned distribution order

can be changed in the TLB component by
typing in a new value in the column Quantity

• After the change, the order is highlighted by

a change indicator

• You can load the order with the changed

quantity to a transportation load

• Like any other interactive change, a

changed order quantity can be simulated to
see the effect in other components of the
workbook and must be explicitly saved to
the version or scenario

PUBLIC 15
Transportation Load Building Run Information in Planning Run Monitor App

• The TLB Run optionally generates data for

the Planning Run Monitor app. It can be
switched on in the parameter section of the
application job template.

• The PRM data allows to analyze all data

that has been sent to and received from the
TLB optimization engine. Switch on the
option if you want to better understand the
planning result.

• The optimization engine is called for each

transportation group and goods receipt date
that is in scope of the TLB Run. Therefore,
all PRM tables can be filtered by
transportation group, goods receipt date,
and internal job ID to be able to analze the
data of a single optimization engine call.
PUBLIC 16
Download of TLB Optimization Engine Diagnosis Files

• The application log of a TLB Run now

includes a sublog which contains links to
download diagnosis files for every TLB
optimization engine call

• The diagnosis files helps SAP Support to

analyze an optimization engine call. Please
attach the files to a customer incident when
advised by SAP Support.

• The diagnosis files are always generated

and stored in the SCM Optimization service.
It is not necessary to set a configuration
parameter to get the download links in the
log. It is also independent of the application
job parameter for generating Planning Run
Monitor data.

ERP Confirmations

With release 2308 IBP will retain information on ERP-S/4HANA sales order confirmation data.

You can look up this information in columns that have been introduced for this purpose in multiple apps
like “View Confirmations”.
With release 2308 also sample planning areas SAP7F and SAP7 are enhanced with new key figures to
display this data in app “Planner Workspaces” or via Add-In for Microsoft Excel.

Benefits:

This way, you can see whether sales orders have been confirmed differently in SAP IBP than in the ERP
system.
You furthermore can use IBP planning runs to create/simulate sales order confirmations and compare
with sales order confirmations integrated from ERP-S/4 HANA systems.
In addition, you can make use of these integrated attributes that contain the confirmation data from the
ERP-S/4HANA system to prioritize demands using prioritization rules.

Support of Non-linear Time Aggregation Profile for OBP Optimizer

The Time Aggregation Profile (TAP) defines the different time

granularities and horizons for telescopic optimization .

In case of a non-linear time profile, you can now combine time

profile levels from different hierarchies.

A mix of weeks and months/quarters is supported.
