TO DATE
On Monday we did some sea animal yoga poses to keep with our ocean theme. These

poses helped with balance and core strength for the kids, while also being a fun activity. We

have been doing a lot of ocean crafts in OT, but I also got to do some in speech today. We made

a fish and in order to get the colors and parts for the fish, our kid had to answer or ask questions.

She was primarily answering question about synonyms and antonyms. Then towards the end she

was asking person questions, like “What is your favorite color? What is your favorite animal?”

She made a pink fish with orange stripes and green fins.

Tuesday, I had food poisoning and did not come into work. Wednesday we started of the

morning making a jellyfish craft, where the kid had to color and cut on lines. In another session,

we made salt dough and the patient had to create a starfish. She had to use her hands to roll the

dough into five cylinders and combine them together to make the shape. She then had to take a

toothpick and poke dots and lines into the dough. Towards the end of the day was the last weekly
social for June. I put together cups of paint for the kids to use when they painted a sheet of paper

on the table, using a clothespin and cotton ball as a brush. I then filled three bowls with flour, a

tumbler with water, three cups with salt, and three cups with vegetable oil. I put all of this

together so that the kids could work in teams of two and make playdough. The kids had to take

turns holding, pouring, or stirring to make the dough. We then ended social group by playing pop

the pig and rolling a giant die to pick the colors.

On Thursday, my first kid of the day wanted to make a crab for his craft so, I helped the

OT gather supplies for the craft. The kid loved making the crab craft and decided to name him

“France”. We had to work on his scissor safety because he was waving them around and

snipping at the air near my face. I only had one speech appointment today and it was virtual. So

we worked on reading and pronouncing “b” and “d” words. She is learning to differentiate the

two letters and not use them incorrectly. I then spent a couple hours learning one of the OT’s get

supplies together for the Fourth of July crafts next week. I had to cut and laminate some

activities. Then I also cut tissue paper into strips for toilet paper rolls that Shea and I painted

earlier.

Friday, Shea and I spent time taking down all the ocean theme decorations to prepare for

next week’s theme. We put up Fourth of July decorations in the lobby and made it look festive. I

printed up some activity sheets for next week. The baby room needed to be more spacious, so I

stacked a bunch of blocks up the ceiling. Shea and I lastly prepared a room for a new social

group next week. The new social group will be older kids, so we had to remove objects and lock

cabinets.
