Due to the ongoing military conflict in Ukraine, children affected by these events require special
psychological and socio-pedagogical support. This project aims to provide support to 300-500
children, including internally displaced children, by offering teacher training, creating child –
friendly space for rehabilitation and reintegration, and to organize and conduct a Summer camp.
The overall goal of the project is to create a friendly environment for children affected by war and
to help them overcome the negative effects of the conflict on their psychological and social well-
being.

5. Brief description of the applicant organization/group: (Maximum 150 words)


Established in 2018, PO Greenwood offers a range of educational programs, including Ukrainian and
English language classes, history lessons, art classes, and DIY workshops. Our Summer programs have been
successful every year since our establishment. We have taught over 600 students between the ages of 5 and
16, who have shown dramatic improvements in their language skills, both in Ukrainian and English. Our
space provides a favorable atmosphere that encourages aesthetic and positive attitudes towards life, helping
to unlock creative potential.
Currently, PO Greenwood has 4 official and permanent employees who work full-time and receive a salary.
In addition to that, we have a team of 7-10 dedicated volunteers who assist us in various activities and
events. Our team is highly motivated and passionate about our mission to provide quality education and
promote creativity among the youth of our community.

1. Context:
Describe the region and community where the project will be implemented. (Maximum 150 words)
The project "Promoting Psychosocial Health and Socio-Pedagogical Development of Children
Affected by Military Conflict in Ukraine" will be implemented in the city of Dnipro, which is the
largest hub for internally displaced persons in Ukraine. Dnipro is a major industrial, cultural, and
educational center of the country and was also affected by the military conflict in the east. The
community that the project will serve includes children and adolescents who have been affected
by the conflict, as well as their families. The project involves training teachers, creating an
innovative space for rehabilitation and reintegration, and holding a summer camp, among other
activities aimed at supporting the mental health and socio-pedagogical development of children.
Implementation of the project on the basis of the Greenwood Public Organization will enable the
coordination of efforts among professionals and volunteers to achieve the common goal of helping
children in need of psychosocial support.
What is the primary issue (problem) this project is seeking to address? (Maximum 150 words)
The project's ultimate goal is to improve the mental health and socio-pedagogical development of
children affected by the military conflict in the city of Dnipro through the creation of an
innovative space for rehabilitation and reintegration. The expected long-term results include:

authorities and organizations to ensure that the innovative space for rehabilitation and
reintegration can continue to provide services to children affected by conflict in the long-term.

The project "Support of psychosocial health and socio-pedagogical development of children affected
by military actions in Ukraine" aims to assist a total of 300-500 children and IDP children, including
both boys and girls, under18 years of age, in improving their mental health and socio-pedagogical
development. The project will be implemented by PO Greenwood in the city of Dnipro, Ukraine,
which is the largest IDP hub in the country.
The project's ultimate goal is to improve the mental health and socio-pedagogical development of
children affected by military operations in Dnipro, through various activities such as teacher training,
creating an child frendly-space for rehabilitation and reintegration, and conducting a "summer camp".
The expected long-term results include improving the mental health and socio-pedagogical adaptation
of children affected by military operations, improving the quality of life of war-affected children and
their families, increasing opportunities for socio-pedagogical support in the region, and creating an
example of good practice in the field of psycho-social support for children affected by military
operations that can be used in other regions of Ukraine and beyond.
The project activities include teacher training, creating an innovative space for rehabilitation and
reintegration of children, group counseling sessions, conducting a summer camp, and evaluation and
monitoring of the project's effectiveness. All these activities will be carried out with a focus on the
different age and gender groups of the children, taking into account the specific needs of girls and

To gather information before the project design, the beneficiaries were consulted. This was done by
conducting interviews and focus group discussions with children affected by military operations and
their families, as well as with teachers and other professionals working with this population. The
consultations aimed to identify the needs and challenges faced by the children and their families, as
well as to gather feedback on the proposed project activities and design. The information collected
during the consultations was then used to inform the project design, ensuring that it was responsive
to the specific needs and circumstances of the target population.

The beneficiaries will continue to be engaged on the issue after the completion of the project by
participating in follow-up activities and monitoring the impact of the project on their lives. This
may include attending meetings and providing feedback on the effectiveness of the project, sharing
their experiences with others, and advocating for the continuation of similar programs in their
community. The project team may also establish a network or support group for beneficiaries to
continue to communicate and support each other after the project has ended. Additionally,
beneficiaries may be encouraged to take on leadership roles in their community to promote
awareness and understanding of the issues addressed by the project.

Gender equality means that diverse groups of women, men, girls and boys, and gender-diverse people
are able to participate and contribute to all spheres of life. Canada’s feminist approach to foreign
policy requires that our international assistance be informed by a gender-based analysis that includes
evidence of meaningful consultations with women and/or girls before a project begins. Canada’s
approach also recognizes that other aspects of identity such as religion, race, and socio-economic
class, may contribute to how individuals experience the problem the project is seeking to address.

Gender-based analysis examines the potential impacts of projects on diverse groups of women and
men, girls and boys.  It identifies the varied roles played by women and men, girls and boys in the
household, community, workplace, political process, and economy.  These different roles usually result
in women having less control and access to resources and decision making processes than men.

How are women, men, boys and girls affected differently by the problem your project is seeking to
address? (Maximum 150 words)
The project "Support of psychosocial health and socio-pedagogical development of children affected
by military actions in Ukraine" recognizes that both boys and girls, above and below 18 years of age,
are affected by the military operations in the region in different ways. Girls may be particularly
vulnerable to gender-based violence, including sexual violence and trafficking, while boys may be
more likely to be recruited into armed groups. Women and men, including parents and caregivers of
the affected children, may also experience different forms of psychological distress and trauma.
To address these issues, the project activities are designed with a focus on different age and gender
groups, taking into account the specific needs of girls and boys. For example, the creation of an
innovative space for rehabilitation and reintegration will be tailored to the needs of both girls and
boys, providing a safe and gender-sensitive environment for them to receive support. The project also
includes group counseling sessions that will be organized separately for boys and girls, recognizing the
different emotional needs and communication styles of each group. Overall, the project aims to
improve the mental health and socio-pedagogical development of all children affected by military
operations in Dnipro, while taking into account the specific challenges faced by girls and boys of
different ages and gender identities

boys, and girls play into their experiences of the problem? (Maximum 150 words)
The problem addressed by the project, which is the impact of military operations on the psychosocial
health and socio-pedagogical development of children, is likely to have varying effects on individuals
depending on their other identities such as religion, sexuality, age, ethnicity, socio-economic class,
and more.
For instance, children from different socio-economic classes may have different access to resources
such as healthcare, education, and social support, which can influence their mental health and socio-
pedagogical development. Similarly, children from minority ethnic and religious groups may face
discrimination, marginalization, and stigmatization, which can impact their mental health and social
integration. Additionally, gender identity and sexual orientation can also play a significant role in
how individuals experience the impact of military operations, with girls and boys facing different
forms of violence and discrimination.
Therefore, it is important for the project to consider and address these intersections of identities and
their impact on the well-being and development of children affected by military operations in Dnipro.
The project should strive to provide inclusive and culturally sensitive support services that take into
account the unique needs and experiences of different individuals and groups.

The organization will measure outcomes through a combination of qualitative and quantitative
methods, such as pre- and post-training assessments, surveys, interviews, and focus group

support networks. The proposed budget accounts for the monitoring and evaluation of the project,
