STANDARD FEATURES ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○ ○
• Modular design sections with rigid steel framework and heavy gauge steel panel construction
for rugged handling and operation.
• A wide range of model sizes enables optimum selection of the unit to meet required system
performance and application.
• A choice of either single-zone horizontal type or single-zone vertical type provides flexibility
in selecting a unit to suit any installation or application requirement.
• A choice of either double wall insulated casing or single wall insulated casing constructed
to suit any application requirements. Available in 1" or 2" design.
• Access panels with quick latches to facilitate accessibility to internal parts for ease of servicing.
• Complete assembly of fan, motor and drive package is internally mounted and resiliently
isolated from unit casing, statically and dynamically balanced, to reduce vibration, noise
breakout and prolong motor life.
• Computer selection of coils to meet any heating or cooling requirements, reduces operating
cost and provides low first cost.
• A wide choice of accessory sections—filter sections, diffuser sections, mixing box sections,
face and bypass damper sections, hot water heating sections, return fan, economizer, etc.—
to meet any air conditioning, air handling or filtration requirements.
• A wide choice of insulation materials (1" or 2") to meet any fire protection, thermal insulation,
acoustic attenuation and atmosphere requirements.
• Optional variable air volume control using variable inlet guide vanes fitted to fan suction
inlets for variable air volume system. For more efficient air volume control, frequency inverter
can be installed to control the fan speed and reduce the operating cost. Contact the
factory.

Unit Casing
Rigid Construction
Frames and supports are of heavy gauge steel fastened
to form a rigid structure. They can be disassembled for
shipment and quick reassembly at the job site. All joints
and mating surfaces are heavily gasketed and sealed. Internal Liner

Fan Section
Fan Types
Forward curved or airfoil fans can be provided to suit
the required applications. Forward curved wheels are
constructed of galvanized steel and are tested in
accordance with ARI Standard 430, suitable for external
static pressure up to 3.5" w.g. and total static pressure Forward Curved Airfoil
up to 6" w.g. Airfoil wheels are of non-overloading Fans Fans
characteristics. All fans are statically and dynamically
balanced.
Fan Bearings
Fan bearings are of the self-aligning type with
regreaseable heavy-duty type and selected for minimum
200,000 hour average life operating hours. Bearings
are provided with lubrication lines which terminate on
outside of unit casing for ease of periodic greasing.
Vibration Isolation
1" deflection spring isolators are standard to provide
excellent vibration isolation. Except for model AH12,
AH22, AH32, AH40 and AH48, where rubber-in-shear
is the standard vibration isolator.
Fan and motor of standard unit are mounted on the
same rigid, rugged steel frame.
Fan discharge is connected to unit discharge by internal
flexible duct connectors to further reduce vibration of
unit.

Mixing Box
The mixing box is designed for efficient mixing of outside
and return air by means of inter-connected dampers.
Nylon bearings eliminate the need for lubricaion. Boxes
can be supplied with manual or motorized, parallel, or
opposed blade dampers.
2" flat filter section is standard. 4" flat filter, angle filter
and bag filter sections are optional. The standard angle
filter section is designed for 2" pleated filters.
Contact the factory for special filter applications.

Standard copper tube coils are guaranteed for 150 psig
pressure and 366°F temperature. Cupro-nickel tube coils
are guaranteed for 250 psig pressure and 475°F
temperature.
For steam coil ratings, see Bulletin 6001-13.
Steam Coils
Steam coils are furnished with 5/8” (Type 5) copper or
90/10 cupro-nickel tubes, aluminum or copper fins with
various fin spacings. Type 5 coils are either one or two Plate Fins
rows deep. Various styles are also available. Plate type, die formed, double
corrugated fin design provides
optimum strength and turbulence
to give peak performance without
objectionable high air pressure
drop. The combination of the
staggered tube configuration and
the corrugation symmetry of the fin permits air flow in
either direction with the same high heat transfer
performance. Each fin has die formed self-spacing fin

Water Coils Exposed to Freezing Temperatures 3. Leave all connections open until coil is put into
operation.
Water coils exposed to freezing temperatures must be
protected from freeze-up by either adding an anti-freeze
solution to the coils or by proper draining of the coils.
Installation of Anti-Freeze Solution
Dunham-Bush coils are circuited so that there are no
trapped circuits. However, because of the serpentine A second way to prevent a coil freeze-up is to add an

18. When the system is started up the dampers should
remain closed for approximately ten minutes af-

20. Damper control is recommended in systems where
the pressure is maintained in the return lines. Do
not use an automatic control valve.
