ACTION PLAN

I. TITLE: SECNCI’s ESL Enhancement Program ( ESL EP)


II. NATURE OF THE PROJECT: Conversational English Enhancement

III. PROPONENT: COLLEGE OF EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

IV. TARGET: SECNCI College of Education: Students, Advisers and Instructors

V. RATIONALE

English was introduced into the Philippines during the US colonial occupation and civil regime in
the early 1900 and has now became the second official language of our country. In fact, English
language has been utilized in most of our domain such as business, government, broadcasting
media, social media, publication and in education. apparently, English experts has been
gaining an advantage towards advancement in many career in our country. Hence, The
SECNCI, College of education propose this English as Second Language Enhancement
Program ( ESL EP) for skills advancement exclusively for the department. It provides English
atmosphere for every young educators to lead the best example and become competitive
towards conversational English . On the other hand, this program would be another
breakthrough towards our institution’s pursuit for a sustainable program to maintain highly
confident English language speakers and disciplined teacher educators of the community.

VI. GENERAL OBJECTIVES

The following are the general objectives:

 Provide a sustainable program for English as Second Language for the benefits of the student of
SECNCI.
 Expand academic vocabulary outside classroom settings where students have an atmosphere to
explore and enjoy English conversation.
 Develop confidence and discipline in speaking/listening and impromptu English conversation
inside and outside the campus.
 Learn to monitor and self-correct students linguistic proficiency in preparation for academic and
non academic matters.
 Learn to use the Second language without heavily relying on their first language.
 Acquire phonological and phonetic knowledge of the sound system of English as second language.

VII. RESOURCES
A. Human Resources: all SECNCI education students. COED instructors
B. Material Resources: SECNCI CAMPUS and GYMNASIUM, AVR sound system, signage and tarpaulin
C. Financial Resources: None

VIII. Strategies:
A. There will be a designated places where students are required to speak in second language
( English Spoken Area ESA }. English Spoken Area are as follows: SECNCI entrance gate and
quadrangle, stairways, classrooms and Isles, all SECNCI Offices, Library, gymnasium and
gymnasium classrooms and the Jars cottages. The Canteen and Toilets are Non English Spoken
Area (NESA). However, students who will be staying at NESA should always observed silence.
B. The College of Education will be divided into teams. Every team will be having five (5) ESL leaders
who will be reminding and initiating the team of using second language in every English spoken
areas.

C. The said ESL leaders will be leading for the entire period and will be changed after every ESL
assessment.
D. Assessment and Enhancement session will be scheduled and done by the chairperson and
Facilitators of the class or teams two (2) days after the examination . this is done base from the
schedule given.
E. ESL EP Bank Notebook is requires to all COED student for their collections of monthly common
phrases and will be used during enhancement and assessment session.

F. The chairperson and the facilitator will be preparing English movies selections for each
enhancement session schedule.
G. Enhancement session involves watching selected English movies and writing common phrases in
students ESL Bank Notebook. It also involves pronunciation and intonation enhancement and done by
sound and pronunciation imitation of the native English speakers dialogue from the movie they have
been watching.( Group listening, Group reading, unlocking of difficulties, individual reading, practice
conversation)

H. ESL EP bank Notebooks will be checked by the designated ESL EP Leaders and advisers right after
the enhancement session .
I. They are expected to utilize the common phrase written in the Bank notebook everyday until it
formed as a habit. ESL EP leaders also monitor the class wither they conform with the program.
J. The ESL EP model team will be given a Banner award: Most discipline and most improved team
will be highly regarded by the President of SECNCI or by the school administrator during Culmination
program.

IX. SUCCESS INDICATOR


A. Presentation of Action plan for approval: March 29,2023
B. Opening of the Program: First Opening - April 19, 2023, 2:00 pm. The next consecutive ESL EP
Opening program will be schedule during the first week of classes of every semester.
C. ESL EP ASSESSMENT schedules: First assessment: April 17-21, 2023
Second Assessment: May 15-19, 2023
Third Assessment and the following may be scheduled two
Days after the periodical examinations.
D. Culminating Activities: The culminating activities may be scheduled 5 days before the date schedule
of the final of examination.
E. ESL EP Awards: Most Discipline ESL EP, and most Improved Banners of Award is given by the
president of the school during culminating activities.
