Pay attention to the fact that fertiliser individual characteristics affect the working width and spreading
standard. That is why the adjustment data given in the tables are only indicative.
That is why we cannot guarantee that the fertiliser with the same name and from the same manufacturer has
the same spread characteristics as given in the spread table.
The quoted machine setting values concerning the crosswise distribution consequently apply to the weight
distribution and not to the distribution of nutrients (it applies particularly to fertiliser mixes). The
manufacturer's liability for the losses caused as a result of fertilising is excluded in this case.
The spreader is sent from the factory in a truck, but if transported on short distances, it can be transported as
a machine mounted to the tractor.
Unload the spreader from the vehicle using a hoisting crane or a tractor, using a loading platform. The sling
hook attachment places are marked on the spreader.

MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
I.INTRODUCTION
Read the Operating Manual carefully and then learn more about the design and operation of the
spreader and its assemblies. Effective, failure-free and safe operation of the machinery is ensured once the
instructions given in the Operating Manual are followed. In case of problems or doubts concerning the
operation and use, contact an authorised seller or the manufacturer's Sales Department. The Seller shall enter
the address of the service provision place in the Guarantee Card.
UNIA Sp. z o.o. will be obliged for any comments to this Operating Manual as well as the spreader, its
use and operation.
UNIA sp. z o.o. shall not be held liable for any damage resulting from failure to observe the Operating
Manual instructions.
In the text of the Operating Manual, the "left" or "right" side of the spreader is determined looking
from the back of the machine towards its direction of operation/driving. The technical safety requirements are
met, provided that only original spare parts are used for repairs.
1. Safety rules
Most accidents that occur during work, service or transport are caused by failing to observe the
essential safety rules. That is why any person handling the fertiliser spreader shall strictly observe the
following general work safety rules:
• only a person who has the relevant qualifications authorising the operation of agricultural machinery
and has read this Operating Manual can operate and use the fertiliser spreader;
• before using the spreader, pay attention to its technical condition, the mounting methods of its
mechanisms, including but not limited to the drive and working units;
• never use a machine that is not fully functional;
• tighten any loose components and immediately replace any damaged components with new ones;
• use only original spare parts for repair; the repairs can be made only by an adequately qualified
person;
• all protective guards have to be in place and not damaged;
• wear protective clothing while operating the spreader;
• a tractor working with a spreader has to have a cabin;
• the machine can be started only in its working position, after making sure that there are no humans or
animals within a 50 m radius;
• the spreader can operate only at the tractor's PTO nominal rotational speed, i.e. 540 rpm. Do not
exceed 600 rpm;
• in case of failure, immediately switch off the drive transferred from the tractor;
• use the shaft type recommended by the manufacturer in this Operating Manual;
• never use the machine when the articulated-telescopic shaft is damaged (bent shaft or jamming joints)
or incomplete;
• aggregate the spreader with a tractor class mentioned in the technical characteristics specified in this
Operating Manual;
• before work, make sure that the adjusting components are functional;
• never drive the aggregated unit in reverse gear with the working units' drive switched on;
• before loading the fertiliser into the hopper, couple the spreader with the tractor's three-point linkage
system;
• during work and transport runs, the machine has to be lifted on the tractor's hydraulic lift;
• do not use any materials other than those that the spreader is intended for;
• do not fill the hopper with the fertiliser when the unloading screens are removed or lifted;
• exceeding the permissible load capacity may result in an accident;
• during any adjustment and service works, lower the machine to its resting position, stop the tractor's
engine, make sure that none of the rotating components is rotating and disconnect the drive shaft;
• firmly fix any loosened components after their inspection, repair or replacement;
- page 5 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
• while working with the spreader and doing service, adjustment and repair works, never wear undone
clothes with loosely hanging or protruding parts;
• do not transport humans, animals or objects not related to the unit's operation on the machine;
• the operator must not leave the aggregated unit with the spreader assemblies' drive on; make sure
that the articulated-telescopic shaft's guard is in place and protected against rotation with chains.
Immediately replace the guards, if damaged;
• during transport runs, turn off the drive of the spreader's working units;
• the balance of the tractor with the coupled spreader, its steerability and braking capability have to be
maintained;
• when connecting the hoses to the tractor's hydraulic system, make sure that the hydraulic system is
depressurised and check the position of the control levers of the tractor's hydraulic system.
Exercise special care while driving with the aggregated unit on public roads and follow the applicable
traffic code regulations. Moreover, mount a light warning device and a triangular identification emblem for
transport. Make sure that the tractor has a functional electrical system which the light warning device shall be
connected to.
NOTE!
Driving on public roads without lights or warning emblems required by the traffic code
regulations MAY RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
• connect the tractor's links to the machine linkage points and secure them,
• lift the spreader and attach the articulated-telescopic shaft,
• set the spreader's position with the tractor's lifting device,
• connect the hydraulic system (applies to the hydraulic control version).
The mean noise level during the spreader operation does not exceed 74 dB(A). The noise level
measurement was carried out when the machine was parked, according to Annex D to PN-EN 1553:2002.
While working with the spreader, the operator should stay in the tractor cabin or wear ear protection.
Vibration hazard does not occur while working with the spreader because the operator's workplace is
in the tractor cabin, where the seat is provided with shock absorbers and ergonomically shaped. The value of
the vibrations affecting the operator's body does not exceed 0.6 m/s2.

MXL mountable fertiliser spreader, depending on the equipment, features the following intrinsic design
components - Fig. 2.
- page 12 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
The spreader design allows for mounting lights and identification emblem, which are indispensable for
the spreader transport on public roads.
Do not exceed the maximum load capacity (see Chapter II item 2) and load on the tractor axle. Driving
on public roads is possible only with the tank partly loaded.
- page 13 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
Depending on the tractor size, the front axle may be unloaded while lifting the
spreader. The front axle load can amount to at least 20% of the tractor weight
In order to facilitate the everyday operation of the spreader, the spreader can be featured with a set of
transport wheels. The wheels are used for moving an empty unit before the spreader coupling to or
uncoupling from the tractor and for such operations as everyday lubrication, adjustment, cleaning or minor
repairs.
The spreading discs are powered from the tractor's PTO through the articulated-telescopic shaft, bevel gear
and intersecting axis gears located directly under the discs. The correct rpm range of the tractor's PTO is
520÷540 rpm.

Hydraulic System
The spreader's hydraulic system is powered by the tractor's external hydraulic system and is used for driving
the worm metering unit. Pressurised oil is supplied to the control valve, which can be manual or hydraulic,
depending on the machine version. After adequate adjustment, the oil is fed to the hydraulic motor that drives
the metering unit.
- page 14 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
To ensure the correct operation of the hydraulic system, the expected flow rate in the tractor should be 45
÷75 l/min. If it is less than 40 litres, it may not reach the adequate rpm of the worm, limiting the range of high
doses.
Pay attention to the flow rates exceeding 70 l/min. If the tractor is featured with a flow controller, reduce the
oil quantity pumped by the oil pump to max. 70 l/min because a high flow rate causes excessive pressure and a
temperature increase in the hydraulic system. Standard equipment includes two pairs of hydraulic lines that
shall be connected to the tractor's hydraulic seats. Only one pair of hydraulic lines suffices in the auxiliary
equipment with an extended hydraulic valve.
Hopper
The hopper is made of sheet metal shaped into truncated pyramids. The hopper structure is fixed to the front
wall, to the frame beam, and supported underneath with a post to the bottom frame channel section. An
upper extension can be added to the hopper to increase its volume. The upper extension is meant to increase
the hopper volume if the spread material used requires larger volumes.
The hopper can be covered with a tarpaulin on a frame to protect the fertiliser from adverse weather
conditions. Tarpaulin on a frame is an auxiliary equipment piece.
The metering unit is meant to accurately feed the fertiliser pellets from the hopper onto the spreading discs. It
consists of worms in the hopper bottom, powered by the hydraulic system. It comprises two worms (left and
right) that can operate simultaneously or separately - at right- or left-side spreading.
Depending on the spreader version, the metering unit's design may vary, related to the hydraulic drive.

Available versions:
o with PILOT JOY multi-function control (standard)
o with SUPERIOR multi-function control (optional)
The tractor driver can switch the metering unit to the left or right side with the hydraulic clutch from the
tractor's cabin only when the metering worms' drive is off.
NOTE!
Switch off the worms' drive before their
switching.
Left Right
Available versions:

o with UTS, ISOBUS multi-function control (optional)
Perform a left- or right-side spreading switching off one of the worms driving the fertiliser metering.
- page 16 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
One tractor driver suffices to operate the machine during work. Before commencing work, the spreader user
shall read the Instructions for Use and wear adequate working clothes protecting against the harmful impact
of chemical fertilisers. Before starting work with the fertiliser, read the information about hazards and adverse
impacts of direct contact with the applied spread materials.
MXL spreaders are available in various control range options of the worm metering unit. Every additional
spreader option contributes to greater working comfort, improves the quality and increases the possibility of
reaching the maximum fertiliser spreading accuracy:
• "PILOT JOY" or MSR-10 standard control (single-motor) – a manual flow controller is replaced by
a hydraulic solenoid valve, which automatically maintains the set dose, regardless of the working speed.
The machine is controlled with the PILOT JOY or MSR-10 controller, which reads the working parameters
through the sensors and accordingly adjusts the metering unit's operation to the set values. PILOT JOY
or MSR-10 controller in the tractor's cabin enables the dose adjustment during fertilising, changing the
travel speed with no metering losses, "START" and "STOP" function, accurate fertiliser calibration and
a collection of counters/meters that indicate the spread fertiliser quantity [kg] and the area where the
fertiliser was spread [ha]. The spreading side is switched off with auxiliary hydraulic lines from the
tractor's cabin, just like in the "standard" version.
• "SUPERIOR" control (double-motor) – a spreader with the "SUPERIOR" controller offers the same
control options as PILOT JOY (or MSR-10) but enables control using a touch screen with a joystick. The
metering unit's sides can also be switched off with the "SUPERIOR" controller to switch off the selected
motor.
• "UTS" control (double-motor) – the spreader's working computer works with tractors using the ISOBUS
system; the control functions are the same as in the "SUPERIOR" controller, but UTS can be extended
with a GPS navigation function in the TRACK Leader II parallel driving function or work with application
maps in the VRC or ISO XML system.
6. Machine operation
Adequate quality of the spreader operation can be achieved when the following recommendations are
observed:
• use fertilisers free of contaminants and lumps and check the level of the hopper filling with fertiliser at
the field ends; the field should be levelled, with a slope no greater than 12°, make sure that the
spreader is correctly levelled in the lengthwise and crosswise direction;
• maintain a constant speed of the aggregated unit and the transmission shaft's rpm (540 rpm) during the
working run; make sure that subsequent runs are performed at the same distances resulting from the
spreader's working width (Fig. 3) and the spreading strips' overlapping; take the spread rear belt reach
① into account when switching the metering unit on and off at the field ends.
Carry out a spreading test before fertilising to calibrate the fertiliser type according to the assumed dose.
In the equipment version with PILOT JOY (or MSR-10), SUPERIOR and UTS computer, switch on the tractor's
hydraulic system before starting, then start the discs drive and finally activate the fertiliser dispensing worm
via the computer.
7. Technical service
• thoroughly clean and wash the spreader after the working period. Never clean the spreader with a high-
pressure water stream from a close distance,
• check the paint coat; clean any defective areas of rust and contaminants, degrease them and paint with
a primer and a topcoat paint,
• spray a protective oil mix onto the spreader, including but not limited to its metal components,
• clean and grease the adjusting screws with ŁT-42 grease,
• fill all lubrication points with lube,
• check the hydraulic system's condition and the manual flow controller's function;
• check the hydraulic system's condition and electronic system's function for each sensor's operation;
• check the filter condition (contamination) in the hydraulic system, and replace it immediately, if
necessary;
• inspect and grease all bolt connections.
7.3. Lubrication
Replace the oil in the toothed bevel gear in the following way:
Perform all operations in well-ventilated rooms or outdoors. Clean the spreader in a place
where wastewater access is provided
- page 18 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
- page 19 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
• Two persons shall dismantle the machine. Before work, the persons handling the machine should
carefully read the Operating Manual of the machine to be dismantled.
• The dismantling station should be equipped with a lift with 500 kg lifting capacity (e.g. crane, hoist or
jack).
• Dismantling operation sequence:
o dismantle the wiring system (item 14),
o dismantle the electronic system, sensors, boxes and controllers (item 13);
o dismantle the hydraulic system (item 11),
o dismantle the spreading discs (item 8),
o dismantle the metering unit (item 9),
o dismantle the intersecting axis gears (item 10) from the boxes' beam, and pour the oil from the gears
to a separate container,
o dismantle the extension from the hopper (item 2a) and remove the hopper (item 2) from the
mainframe (item 1).
Use only adequate tools to perform the operations mentioned above, depending on the
performed dismantling operation.
Exercise care and observe the safety rules when doing the operations mentioned above.
Depressurise the hydraulic system hoses before handling and stop the tractor's engine.
If the hose is damaged, replace it with a new one.
Note: The plastically folded hose ends are non-replaceable. The replaceable sealing ring will not be damaged
only if it is placed in the groove on the coupling and in the supply seat. Do not screw in the coupling too much;
the channel in the coupling (after screwing in) must not protrude above the seat's face. In the first case, the
sealing ring will be damaged by the seat's thread, and in the latter case, it will be damaged by the counternut.
If either of the sealing rings is worn or damaged, the connection becomes leaking (oil leaking from the system).
Repair the malfunction by replacing the ring(s) with a new one(s).
The height of the rear upper edge of the tank in the fertiliser spreader does not exceed 1.24 m. Make sure that
the loaded fertiliser quantity is no greater than the tank volume indicated by the manufacturer in the technical
data.
If the permissible load capacity is exceeded, it can result in the machine damage and accident at
work.
The spreader can be loaded only after it has been coupled with the tractor's three-point linkage.
• Avoid loading any fertilisers that are lumpy, contaminated with foreign bodies or wet, prone to
smearing, as it can deteriorate the spreader operation or even make its operation impossible.
• During loading, the unloading screens inside the tank have to be lowered, fixed in their holders and
secured with a screw and nut.
- page 20 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
The fertiliser quantity spread per area unit [ha] depends on the following:
o rpm of the worm metering unit;
o working (travel) speed;
o spreading strip width;
Depending on the design standard, the MXL spreader enables manual (described below) or automatic (with
a control computer) control and setting of the dose.
Two people should perform calibration. The operator in the tractor switches the hydraulic system on and off
and sets the metering unit's rpm, while the assistant controls and captures the fertiliser from the chute.
The calibration test for spreaders with PILOT JOY (or MSR-10), SUPERIOR and UTS computer is described in
relevant sections of the Operating Instructions for controllers.
In the spreader version with a computer, the calibration test result is entered into the computer immediately
after the test. The controller automatically calculates the rpm, and finally the dose, for each calibrated
fertiliser. It is recommended to carry out a test at every change of the spread powder fertiliser type. Carry out
a spreading test (called calibration test) when the tractor's hydraulic system is on, when running along
a measured section or when the machine is parked. A test on a measurement section is more accurate, as it
reflects the actual working conditions. The conducted measurements help to determine the spreader setting in
order to achieve the required fertiliser spreading dose.

Calculating the measurement section for the working widths not included in the chart.
Measure the road section for the selected working width according to the chart above.
Then run along the set route at speed determined based on the spreading chart and with the right worm on.
Weigh the fertiliser collected in the suspended vessel and multiply it with the coefficient derived from the
chart.
Example:
o working width = 15 m
o fertiliser weight in the tank = 7.5 kg
o measured distance acc. to chart = 33.3 m
kg
Spreading standard ( ) = 7,5 x 40 = 300 kg/ha
ha
For low fertiliser doses per hectare, double the road section, and divide the coefficient by two.

4. Mounting height adjustment
• Mount the machine intended for filling with fertiliser on the tractor according to the filling values given
in the spreading chart.
• The specified values apply to the distance between the field/ meadow and the front and rear part of the
spreading disc.
• The specified machine mounting values [in cm] apply to normal fertilising.
• During spring fertilising, when the plants' height ranges from 10 to 40 [cm], the mounting height (e.g.
80/80) shall be measured from the disc to the plants' mid-height. Hence for the plant height of 20 [cm],
mount the machine at 90/90 height to the field surface.
• For higher plants, mount the machine according to the data for top dressing.
• For densely growing crop, e.g. rape, mount the spreader (e.g. 80/80) above the crop by changing the
bottom mounting holes.
• Whenever possible, for higher plants, mount the machine according to the data for top dressing.
• If fertiliser is spread in later periods, the spreader can be tilted lengthwise on the three-point linkage
when the plants' growth is already advanced.
• The degree of the machine tilting, with no influence on the quality of the work, is determined by
position B of the indicator on the inner side of the machine's mounting system.
• Position A corresponds to the spreader's lengthwise levelling.
• If the cross joints are deflected by more than 25 degrees, use articulated shafts with a higher angular
deflection.

MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
Read the adjustment values in the spreading chart for each working width.
The MXL spreader features two spreading discs: right and left. Each disc is oriented directionally, according to
the marked direction of running and rotation. Each disc features a pair of blades, A and B, depending on the
working width range:
By setting the blades to a higher value, you can increase the working width. Short blades cover the internal
working width range, while long blades determine the external working width range.
For some fertiliser types (e.g. nitro-chalk), it is possible to use an optimum transverse distribution of the
fertiliser for the working widths of 10 - 16 mm, at the same position of the blades.
The spreading diagrams for the LM10 blade at the B4/A4 setting correspond to those for the working widths of
12 and 15 m. In all cases, nearly the same spreading diagrams and low transverse distribution (VK) coefficients
were achieved - see below.
- page 24 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
The fertiliser's physical characteristics affect the achieved working width. The most critical factors include grain
size, specific gravity, slide characteristics of the outer surface and humidity. Depending on the fertiliser range,
the LM discs (Fig. 3) enable working at different working widths.
In order to achieve diversified working widths (distance between the tracks), the position of the blades is
gradually changed in the holes around the collection point (Fig. 3). You can increase the working width by
moving the blades according to the disc rotation direction (to a higher value on the scale according to "a"). You
can decrease the working width by moving the blades against the disc rotation direction (to a lower value on
the scale according to "b"). Short blades cover the internal working width range, while long blades determine
the external working width range.
Adjustment of the LM 20 disc blades (e.g. for POLIDAP® NP(S) 18-46-(5), working width 24 m):
Loosen the wing nuts (Fig. 4, items 5 and 6) at the bottom of the disc. Position the short blade (Fig. 5 item 1) to
the "B3" hole on the scale (Fig. 5 item 2), and the long blade (Fig. 5 item 3) to the "A2" hole on the scale
(Fig. 5 item 4), and tighten the wing nuts (Fig. 4 items 5 and 6).
Adjust the LM05, LM10 and LM30 disc blades in the same way.

Fig. 5
The actual setting values on the spreading disc scale can vary from the values given in the chart due to the
changing physical characteristics of fertilisers.
It is recommended to check and possibly adjust the blades' position with portable measuring vessels. The
method of performing the check is described in the following section.
In order to check the spreader for correct operation, place the trays crosswise to the tractor driving direction,
as shown in Table 1, for the given working width. If the blades are correctly set, the fertiliser quantity poured
from the trays to the measuring vessels should be similar. If any irregularities are discovered, change the
blades' position on the left and right spreading discs.

Table 1
Examples of incorrect crosswise fertiliser distribution and the spreading discs' blade/s position correction are
shown on p. 30 to ensure optimum fertiliser distribution. These activities are meant to check the uniform
spreading of the fertilisers that are not included in the spreading charts. The bulk density (marked as "c.u." in
the chart) and the grain size are the factors that affect uniform spreading most. The first factor is often given
on the fertiliser original packaging. The other one, i.e. grain size percentage, can be checked with a
granulometer.

When filling the spreader, avoid inhaling the dust and direct skin contact with the fertiliser.
After work, thoroughly wash your hands and skin areas in contact with chemicals with water
and soap.
1) Before work, e.g. using Mesurol, read the manufacturer's instructions and observe the applicable plant
protection regulations.
2) When spreading Mesurol, make sure that the discharge holes are always covered with the material
and that the unit moves at a constant speed, with the transmission shaft set to 540 rpm. Material
residues of less than 0.7 kg per hopper section do not guarantee accurate spreading. In order to empty
the spreader, open the sliding gates and collect the discharged material, e.g. in a tarpaulin.
3) Never spread molluscicides with fertilisers or other materials.

6.1 Comments on using LM05 (10 - 12 m) and LM10 (10 - 16 m) spreading discs
Spread fertiliser pellets at the field borders using the TL 10 or TL 20 border disc, which can be added to the
spreader on request.
The TL 10 disc differs from the TL 20 and TL 30 discs with the telescopic blade length.
• TL 10 disc - blade length range: 120 - 170 mm
• TL 20 disc - blade length range: 180 - 250 mm
• TL 30 disc - blade length range: 250 - 320 mm
- page 43 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
Adjust the blade length to the working width and read the data from the spreading chart.
The spreader is equipped with a left TL border disc. First, spread the fertiliser with the disc at the field border,
moving clockwise (see figure below). Then replace the TL disc with the LM disc and continue fertilising
according to the path technology and the applied working width.
On the example of Saletrzak gran. 27%N fertiliser, a diagram of the spread material crosswise distribution was
developed for the working width of 18 m.

The TL border disc (Fig. 6 p. 53) is set with the telescopic blades (Fig. 7 p. 53) according to the data in the
fertilising chart, depending on the fertiliser type and distance for the first run from the field border.

Setting the TL disc blades for "Saletra Amonowa 32% - gran. ZA Kędzierzyn” [granulated ammonium nitrate]:
The distance of the first run to the field border - 12 m, blade setting according to the chart (excerpt from the
chart is shown at the bottom of the page): B2 - 200; A4 - 200, where "B2" and "A4" stand for the blade's
position on the disc's scale, and "200" means the telescopic blade length.
a) loosen the wing nuts (Fig. 6, item 1) at the bottom of the disc, position blade "A" (Fig. 6, item 2) to hole "4"
on the scale (Fig. 6, item 3), and position blade "B" (Fig. 6, item 4) to hole "2" on the scale (Fig. 6, item 5);
tighten them with wing nuts.
b) loosen the pressure nut (Fig. 7, item 1), change the blade's moving part length to l=200 mm and tighten the
pressure nut; repeat the operations for the other blade.

When fertilising at the field edge, near ditches and similar places, use a guard that reduces the fertiliser spread
as follows:
If the first route is 1.5 - 2 m from the field edge (e.g. for 3 m wide a row seed drill, the distance between the
route and the field edge is 1.5 m), place the guard in the middle and position it at the correct angle. Border
fertilising (Fig. 8) is performed with chamber 2 open while the fertiliser chamber 1 is closed.
Fig. 8
The border spreading device can be used for extreme fertilising when the distance between the first track and
the field edge corresponds to the middle of the spreader's working width. The guard is lifted and lowered
manually or hydraulically.
- page 47 -
MXL 1200/1600/2100/3000 – operating manual
The adjustment is made depending on the distance to the field edge and the type of the spread fertiliser. The
adjustment values can be found in Table 1.
Extreme fertilising
At least 80% of the adjusted standard has to be spread to the field edge
The adjustment values in the chart are only illustrative because the spreading characteristics of fertilisers vary
and affect the spread quality.
When should the border spreading device setting be adjusted.
a) When too much fertiliser pours over the field border, set a higher value on the device's scale, i.e. the
value corresponding to a shorter distance from the field border.
b) When the fertiliser does not reach the field border, set a lower value on the device's scale, i.e. the
value corresponding to a longer distance from the field border.
For the distance to the field border shorter than 10 m, it is recommended to adjust the border spreading
device by 2 units on the scale. For distances over 10 m, it is recommended to adjust it by 1 unit on the scale.

Remember the tips given in Chapters 5 and 6, and always run the field clockwise along the first track (to the
right).
After completing the run along the whole field, replace the TL border disc with LM spreading disc.
Centrifugal spreaders eject the fertiliser backwards as well. That is why in order to spread the fertiliser
accurately at the beginning of the running path when opening and closing the metering gap at the field ends,
consider the reach of the strip spreading reach.
When driving one way (tracks T 1; T 2 etc.) and in the opposite direction (track T3 etc.).
• turning the metering unit on - when driving one way, approximately at point P 1, when the tractor
passes the other track (dashed line);
The presented spreading method helps avoid fertiliser losses, insufficient fertilising,
overfertilising and protects the natural environment.

A granulometer is a device that helps the spreader user to identify the fertiliser which is not included in the
spreading charts. Compare the test result with the fertilisers in the charts for its specific gravity [kg/l] and
percentage of the grain size distribution in the fertiliser.
An example of a granulometer use and the result for the tested fertiliser are shown below:
Open the cover by moving it to the left. Pour the collected fertiliser sample up to mark 10 on the scale in the
granulometer's exposed "D" compartment. Close the cover, turn it and shake until the granulate is separated
(ca. 5 seconds).
In the last second of shaking, set the granulometer to its initial position and read the bar diagram of the
separated fertiliser granule fractions.
