Assignment #3

Prepared and presented by:

Eng. MuhammadHashim Iyad Jabr

Under the supervision of:

Prof. Dr. Basil Hamed
1. Compute the Fourier series for the following signals:
a)

b)

2. Find the Fourier transform, 𝑿(𝒘), then plot |𝑿(𝒘)|:

a) by using table and its property (do not use Fourier integration law)

b) 𝒙(𝒕) = 𝒆−𝟐𝒕𝒄𝒐𝒔(𝟒𝒕)𝒖(𝒕)
c) Compute the inverse Fourier transform of the following signal.

3. Compute the Laplace Transforms of the following functions

a) 𝒙(𝒕) = 𝟐𝒖(𝒕) + 𝜹(𝒕 − 𝟒) − 𝒄𝒐𝒔(𝟓𝒕)𝒖(𝒕)
b) 𝒙(𝒕) = 𝒕𝒖(𝒕) − 𝟐(𝒕 − 𝟐)𝒖(𝒕 − 𝟐) + (𝒕 − 𝟑)𝒖(𝒕 − 𝟑)

4. Compute the inverse Laplace transform of the following functions

𝟐𝒔+𝟏𝟎𝟎
a) 𝑿(𝒔) = (𝒔+𝟏)(𝒔+𝟖)(𝒔+𝟏𝟎)
𝟐𝟎
b) 𝑿(𝒔) = 𝒔(𝒔𝟐 +𝟏𝟎𝒔+𝟏𝟔)
𝟐𝟎(𝒔+𝟏)
c) 𝑿(𝒔) = (𝒔𝟐 +𝟏𝟔)((𝒔𝟐 +𝟒)+𝟐𝟓)(𝒔+𝟏)

5. Solve the following differential equations using the Laplace Transform

method:
a) 𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟒𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟐𝟎𝒚̈(𝒕) = 𝟐𝒙 (𝒕) − 𝒙(𝒕)

𝒙(𝒕) = 𝒖(𝒕), 𝒚̈(𝟎) = 𝟎, 𝒚̈ (𝟎) = 𝟏

b) 𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟗𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟐𝟎𝒚̈(𝒕) = 𝒙(𝒕)

𝒙(𝒕) = 𝟐𝒖(𝒕), 𝒚̈(𝟎) = 𝟏, 𝒚̈ (𝟎) = −𝟐

6. For the system given below:

𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟖𝒚̈ (𝒕) + 𝟏𝟏𝟔𝒚̈(𝒕) = 𝟏𝟏𝟔𝒙(𝒕)

a) Find the transfer function.

b) Give the poles and zeros.
c) Give the general form of the response 𝒚̈(𝒕) to a step input.
