REFLECTION OF THE MOVIE “TAARE ZAMEEN PAR”

"Taare Zameen Par," also known as "Like Stars on Earth," is a critically

acclaimed Indian film released in 2007. Directed by Aamir Khan, the movie
explores the story of an 8-year-old boy named Ishaan Awasthi, played by
Darsheel Safary, who struggles with dyslexia. The film highlights the challenges
Ishaan faces in a conventional school system that fails to understand his learning
disability.
One of the key reflections of "Taare Zameen Par" lies in its emphasis on the
importance of recognizing and nurturing the unique talents and abilities of every
child. Ishaan's artistic talent is overshadowed by his academic struggles, leading
to a loss of confidence and self-esteem. However, when a new art teacher, Ram
Shankar Nikumbh, portrayed by Aamir Khan, recognizes Ishaan's potential and
intervenes, it brings about a transformation in the boy's life.
The film serves as a powerful reminder of the significance of education that goes
beyond academics. It underscores the need for a compassionate and inclusive
approach to learning, where children with diverse abilities and learning styles are
given the support they require to thrive. "Taare Zameen Par" urges parents,
teachers, and society as a whole to understand that intelligence comes in various
forms and that every child deserves to be valued and understood.
Another significant reflection from the movie is the impact of parental
expectations and societal pressures on children's mental health. Ishaan's
parents, unaware of his dyslexia, mistake his academic difficulties for laziness
and lack of effort. The constant pressure to conform to societal norms takes a toll
on Ishaan's emotional well-being, making him withdraw further. This aspect of the
film serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of parental involvement,
understanding, and unconditional love in a child's life.
"Taare Zameen Par" also highlights the transformative power of a supportive
teacher-student relationship. Ram Shankar Nikumbh, the art teacher, not only
recognizes Ishaan's struggles but also invests time and effort to understand his
perspective. Through patient guidance, encouragement, and innovative teaching
methods, Nikumbh helps Ishaan rediscover his passion and regain his self-
confidence.
Overall, "Taare Zameen Par" is a heartwarming and thought-provoking film that
sheds light on the struggles faced by children with learning disabilities and
emphasizes the need for an inclusive educational environment. It encourages
viewers to challenge societal norms, appreciate individual differences, and
provide the necessary support and understanding to help every child reach their
full potential.
