20 - Initial & Medial Vowel Sounds
Lesson Procedure
Preparatory Activities:
The Teacher will ask the learners to stand up and will choose a learner to
lead the prayer. She will then let the learners sing the Philippine National
Anthem. After singing, the Teacher will remind the pupils about their
classroom rules and will ask some questions.
The following questions:
1. How are you today?
2. How are you feeling? (Sad, Happy, Sleepy)
3. What day is today?
4. What is our weather for today?
A. Introduction
The teacher will let the learners sing the “Old Mcdonald had a farm” song.
After singing the song, the teacher will ask some questions.
1. Who had a farm?
2. What animals did he have on the farm?
3. What is the sound of each animal?
4. What are the other vowel sounds aside from e-i-o?
B. Interaction:
The teacher will present the following cards on the board (Column 1 &
Column 2). She will then let the learners read the words. After that, the
Teacher will ask the learners. “In the first set of words where can you find the
vowel sounds?” She and the learners will hand in hand identify the
vowel sounds in each word and what kind of vowel they are. (Initial or
Medial)
Do the same procedure for the second set of words.
C. Integration:
After the discussion, the teacher will provide some words and pictures
and she will let the learners provide the missing initial or medial vowel
sounds in each word. After doing it, she will then recall the song that they
sang a while ago and ask some questions.
1. What can you say about old mcdonald?
2. What is the best attitude towards the animals?
D. Evaluation
The teacher will let the learners color and answer their worksheets, she
will then ask the learners to encircle the initial or medial vowel sound found in the
worksheet.
