INSIDE OUT
Lead-ins are essential to engage students in the topic and introduce them the topic of the lesson.
Set the context by giving students a brainstorm worksheet and asking them to come up with as
many emotions as they know.
VOCABULARY PRESENTATION
Tell the class they are going to watch a segment of a movie that talks about emotions. Play the
video once and give them the worksheet to classify the emotions according to the correct
character. Monitor your students unobtrusively helping them if needed.
VOCABULARY CLARIFICATION
Clarify meaning, pronunciation and form of the new vocabulary.
CONTROLLED PRACTICE:
In order to provide some controlled practice of the vocabulary learned, use worksheet of fill in
the gaps with the correct word.
freer practice:
Give students a copy of the questions at the end of the exercises for them to practice in pairs
or small groups at the end of the lesson. Bear in mind that students need to have some time for
freer, uninterrupted practice of the vocabulary in a contextualised way.
