1.2.2. Warnings
WARNING
Improper installation or attachment of equipment or accessories could result in electric shock, short-circuit, leaks, fire or
other damage to the equipment. Only use accessories, optional equipment and spare parts made or approved by Dai-
kin.
WARNING
Make sure installation, testing and applied materials comply with applicable legislation (on top of the instructions
described in the Daikin documentation).
WARNING
Make sure the work site environment is clean and safe to work in. Beware of spilled fluids, like water, oil or other sub-
stances. Protect bystanders from injury and property from possible damage cause by service works.
WARNING
Wear adequate personal protective equipment (protective gloves, safety glasses,…) when installing, maintaining or ser-
vicing the system.
WARNING
Tear apart and throw away plastic packaging bags so that nobody, especially children, can play with them. Possible risk:
suffocation.
WARNING
Do NOT touch the air inlet or aluminium fins of the unit.
WARNING
• Do NOT place any objects or equipment on top of the unit.
• Do NOT sit, climb or stand on the unit.
WARNING
During tests, NEVER pressurize the product with a pressure higher than the maximum allowable pressure (as indicated
on the nameplate of the unit).
WARNING
• Never mix different refrigerants or allow air to enter the refrigerant system.
• Never charge recovered refrigerant from another unit. Use recovered refrigerant only on the same unit where it was
recovered from, or have it recycled at a certified facility.
WARNING
Always recover the refrigerants. Do NOT release them directly into the environment. Use a recovery pump to evacuate
the installation.
Take sufficient precautions in case of refrigerant leakage. If refrigerant gas leaks, ventilate the area immediately.
Possible risks:
• Excessive refrigerant concentrations in a closed room can lead to oxygen deficiency.
• Toxic gas may be produced if refrigerant gas comes into contact with fire.
Where applicable, pump down the system and close the service valve, before leaving the site if leak was not repaired, to
avoid further leaking of the refrigerant.
WARNING
• Only use copper wires.
• All field wiring must be performed in accordance with the wiring diagram and installation manual supplied with the
product.
• If the power cable and lead wires have scratches or deteriorated, be sure to replace them. Damaged cable and wires
may cause an electrical shock, excessive heat generation or fire.
• Secure all terminal connections and provide proper routing for cables, both inside and outside the switchbox.
• NEVER squeeze bundled cables and make sure they do not come in contact with the piping and sharp edges.
• Make sure no external pressure is applied to the terminal connections.
• Make sure to check the earth wiring. Do NOT earth the unit to a utility pipe, surge absorber, or telephone earth.
Improper earth wiring may cause electrical shock.
• Make sure to use a dedicated power circuit. NEVER use a power supply shared by another appliance.
• Make sure to check the required fuses and/or circuit breakers before starting works.
WARNING
• After finishing the electrical work, confirm that each electrical component and terminal inside the electrical
components box is connected securely.
• Make sure all covers are closed before starting the unit again.
1.2.3. Cautions
CAUTION
Provide adequate measures to prevent that the unit can be used as a shelter by small animals. Small animals that make
contact with electrical parts can cause malfunctions, smoke or fire.
CAUTION
• Make sure water quality complies with EU directive 98/83 EC.
• Check the system for leaks after each repair/modification of the water side.
• Check drainage system(s) after repairs.
• Be careful when tilting units as water may leak.
1.2.4. Information
INFORMATION
Make sure refrigerant piping installation complies with applicable legislation. In Europe, EN378 is the applicable stand-
ard.
INFORMATION
Make sure the field piping and connections are not subjected to stress.
• To reduce the cooling/heating load in the building, the HRV unit can limit the extra load when supplying outdoor air when HRV
unit is set into automatic control.
• The HRV unit contains a high efficiency heat exchange element (7) constructed from high efficiency flame resistant paper
(HEP) treated with an anti-moulding agent. The heat exchange unit recovers both latent and sensible heat by a cross flow
pattern.
• Below the heat exchanger, at outdoor intake and indoor return side, standard an air filter (8) with filter class G3= EU3 conform
EN779-2012 is mounted.
• From the user interface, the operation mode can be set to automatic control, fixed bypass or fixed heat exchange. When
outdoor air temperature (10) drops below +°5C, HRV unit will operate forced in heat-recovery mode.
• The automatic control logic uses air thermistor (10) on the outdoor air intake and the indoor air return side (11), to control a
damper (3) to set unit into heat recovery or bypass the air return. The main purpose is reduce the capacity need to cool down
(when return air is higher than set value) or heat up (when return air is lower than set value).
• When the HRV unit is equipped individually with a user interface, the operation mode cooling or heating is set by outdoor air
intake temperature.
• When the HRV unit is wired in group to VRV or Sky Air indoor (so on same P1P2 bus), the DX indoor will set the operation
mode cooling or heating on the HRV unit.
• The control can operate the fan motor speed according to required ESP setting (15 steps). The proportion of air volume
between air supply and air return can be altered in fresh-up operation. The fresh air operation can be set by field setting or
voltage free contact input.
• The control can perform a filter contamination check using tendency change of rpm and current to the fan motors (1 + 2). To
activate this function a field setting needs to be changed (28-11).

As can be observed from the Table of Contents, this manual is split up into several chapters:
The chapter "Introduction" on page 7 includes the safety precautions, this topic and the general operation description of the
product(s) this manual refers to.
The chapter "Troubleshooting" on page 15 not only deals with the methods to recognize and resolve occurring error codes; it also
describes the methods how to solve a problem that does not immediately trigger an error code. Such problems are referred to as
'symptom based'. Both the error code based and symptom based troubleshooting tables, indicate possible causes, the necessary
checks and in case required, how to repair. The possible causes have been sorted to probability of occurrence and speed of
execution.
The chapter "Repair" on page 51 handles the removal and replacement of the major components in the product and discusses
cleaning methods as well if applicable, such as for filters. Where applicable, refrigerant handling precautions are mentioned for
certain actions; please consider these carefully for your own safety.
The chapter "Maintenance" on page 75 of this manual describes the maintenance intervals and procedures to be performed on
the product. Remember that a well maintained product, is a more reliable and efficient product.

Part 4. Maintenance
This part contains the following chapters:
Limitation
Temperature Humidity
Outdoor intake -10 ~ 46°C(*) Below 80%
Unit location 0 ~ 40°C Below 80%
(*) Remarks:
1. Check with the HRV selection software the condition of exhaust air during heat-exchange operation. If exhaust air exceeds 95%
RH, install preheater with the capacity given in the HRV selection software.
2. When unit is mounted upside down, outdoor intake +5 ~ 46°C.
2. Correlation of ventilation unit operation status, air flow and running current
- We recommend performing maintenance on the air filter at least once a year. However, applicable legislation might require
shorter maintenance intervals.
- We recommend to clean the paper heat-exchanger at least once every 2 years (for general office use). If necessary,
shorter maintenance intervals might be required.
- Before accessing, make sure to switch off the operation switch and disconnect the power (open the circuit breaker in the
power distribution panel).
- During operation, NEVER check or clean the unit. It may cause electrical shock. Do NOT touch the rotating parts, it will
cause injury.
CAUTION
• Do NOT wash the air filter in hot water.
• Do NOT dry the air filter over a fire.
• Do NOT subject the air filter to direct sunlight.
• Do NOT use organic solvent such as gasoline and thinner on the air filter.
• Make sure to install the air filter after servicing (missing air filter causes clogged heat exchange element).
• Replacement air filters are available (select from spare part list).
- Step 1: Go into the ceiling through the inspection hole, loosen the screw of the hinge mechanism (on the left side) to open
the maintenance cover. Take the maintenance cover off by rotating it around the vertical axis of the hanging metal.

- Step 3: Clean the air filters. To clean the air filters, lightly pat it manually or remove dust with a vacuum cleaner. If
excessively dirty, wash it with water.
- Step 4: If the air filters are washed, remove water completely and allow to dry for 20 to 30 minutes in the shade.
- Step 5: When dried completely, install the air filters back in place after the installation of the heat exchange elements.
Make sure the air filters are oriented correctly, as shown in the figure.
- Step 7: Reconnect the power (close the circuit breaker in the power distribution panel).
- Step 8: Start the unit. The fan motors start 60 seconds after the power supply is connected.
CAUTION
• NEVER wash the heat exchange element with water.
• NEVER touch the heat exchange paper because it can be damaged if it is forced.
• Do NOT crush the heat exchange element.
• Cleaning procedure:
- Step 1: Take out the heat exchange elements. Refer to "Maintenance of the air filter" on page 75 (step 1 and 2).
- Step 2: Equip a vacuum cleaner with a brush on the tip of the suction nozzle.
- Step 3: Use the vacuum cleaner and gently brush the surface of the heat exchange element to remove dust.
- Step 4: Put the heat exchange element on the rail and insert it securely in place.
• Before accessing, make sure to switch off the operation switch and disconnect the power (open the circuit breaker in the power
distribution panel).
• Open the service cover. Refer to "Maintenance of the air filter" on page 75.
• Remove air filters and paper heat-exchanger. Refer to "Maintenance of the heat-exchangers" on page 77.
• Check rotation of fan-rotor by hand. There should be no friction against fan housing.
• Check surface fan-rotor. If dirty, clean by wet rag using some soap. Clean afterwards with fresh water.
• Clean the grills. Consult the documentation of the supplier of the grills about the maintenance procedure.
8. Maintenance of switchbox
• Before accessing, make sure to switch off the operation switch and disconnect the power (open the circuit breaker in the power
distribution panel).
• Measure the voltage between terminals on the terminal block for power with a tester and confirm that the power supply is shut
off. In addition, measure points as shown in the figure with a tester and confirm that the voltage of the capacitor in the main
circuit is less than 50 V DC.
