STRUCTURAL DETAILING WITH AUTOCAD.

Structural detailing is the process of creating detailed drawings and models for the fabrication
and construction of structures. Structural detailing plays a vital role in the construction industry,
as it ensures that the final product is safe, accurate, and efficient.
There are three basic types of structures: shell structures, frame structures and solid structures.
But some structures are a combination.
Structural detailing is one of the key processes within the construction of commercial buildings,
public projects, industrial sites, or residential buildings. Its purpose is to transform broad
documentation into detailed drawings and explanations.
A detail drawing provides complete and precise descriptions of a part's dimensions, shape and
how it is manufactured. A detail drawing should be concise, in that it conveys only the
information needed to create the part.

AutoCAD is used to create 2D and 3D models of the designed project. With the software,
engineers can easily visualize their projects and make any necessary changes. Additionally,
AutoCAD can be used to create detailed drawings for construction purposes.
AutoCAD is a Computer-Aided Design software application for 2D and 3D design and drafting.
It is developed and sold by Autodesk Inc., along with related products like Inventor, Revit,
Maya, 3ds Max Design, Fusion360, and Thinker CAD.
AutoCAD is a commercial computer-aided design (CAD) and drafting software application.
Developed and marketed by Autodesk, AutoCAD was first released in December 1982 as a
desktop app running on microcomputers with internal graphics controllers.
Applications of AutoCAD
 Architectural drawing of all kinds.
 Interior design and facility planning.
 Work-flow charts and organizational diagrams.
 Proposals and presentations.
 Graphs of all kinds.
 Drawings for electronic, chemical, civil, mechanical, automotive and aerospace
engineering applications.

When you open AutoCAD, you'll see two tabs on the bottom—LEARN and CREATE (the
default tab). If you click the LEARN tab, you'll find helpful videos to get you started with your
project. If you click back to the CREATE tab, you'll find the following areas:
 In the "Get Started" section on the left, you can select Start Drawing to create a new
project, Open Files to choose an existing project, or click the Templates menu to start
from a template.
 If there are any recent AutoCAD documents to work on, they'll appear in the Recent
Documents section at the middle of the screen.
 If any updates are available, they'll appear in the Notifications area at the top-right corner.
 You can also sign in to your A360 account by clicking Sign In at the bottom-right corner.
Click Start Drawing or open an existing file. If you want to start a new project from a
template, choose that template instead.
 If you don't see the option to do so, click the File menu and select New to create a new
drawing now.
Familiarize yourself with the workspace layout. Once you've opened a drawing, take some time
to acquaint yourself with the locations of menus and tools:
Click the Home tab. It's at the top-left corner of AutoCAD. You'll see your drawing tools in the
"Draw" area on the left side of the ribbon toolbar

In conclusion, structural drawings communicate the design of the building's structure to the
building authority for review. They are also included with a proposed building's contract
documents, which guide contractors in detailing, fabricating, and installing parts of the structure.
The use of AutoCAD (CAD) allows for creating designs much faster than the manual drafting.
This saves a lot of time which can be utilized for other important tasks. Also, modification done
in one part can be penetrated to other parts of the models. This is not possible in manual
methods.
