Theme
The theme of road transport safety campaign is
“Transforming safe driving behavior into belief of
care for others”.
It aims to transform and inculcate CARE & RESPECT
of all road users as a strong personal “Value” and not a
mere “Priority,” while driving in person and on
business.
We aim to get to the heart of what avoids collisions i.e.
looking out for each other and making good
decisions.

Objectives
 The program is dedicated to saving lives by enabling
people to drive better
 It is an effort to connect and strengthen link with
community and all road users.
• It aims to rejuvenate care, friendliness and cordiality
in the hearts and minds of UEP employees,
contractors. & professional drivers.
• It focuses on creating awareness on major road risks
and important mitigatory controls.

Friend of Driver (FOD) Role

Responsibility of safe and efficient execution of journey lies jointly with the Driver and
Friend of Driver (FOD).

Who is Friend of Driver


FOD is a passenger who travels with the driver at front seat.
His support is vital and mandatory at three stages of the journey.

Pre Journey-Support:
Conduct discussions with driver on the route, duration, road hazards, speed limit &
seasonal/.
Check driving license, DDC permit, pre trip inspection checklist, load securing and
dashcam functionality include temporary hazards in audio & video recording.
Fill in JRM checklist after due verification.

Mid Journey Support:


Remain alert and support in hazard identification, observation while negotiating blind spots
and high-risk zones
Keep vehicle cabin distraction free by minimal use of cell phone and chat with passengers.
Observe driving behavior and intervene/advice appropriately when required

End Journey Support:


Appreciates the driver and provides feedback on good driving practices and areas of
improvement related to driving behaviors & skills.
Fill in RAC checklist appropriately and provide comments if required

LEARNING FROM INCIDENT
Contractor’s Vehicle Road Accident at Kario-Golarchi Road near Rahoki (IN-20220131-005)
DESCRIPTION: On January 31, 2022, radiography contractor’s vehicle left from their camp in Matli at 5:09 pm towards company flowline project
site for carrying out radiography activity. At 5:55pm in the evening the car had a collision with a bike with 02 people onboard, mid-way between
Kario and Golarchi. The contractor evacuated the injured person to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
WHAT WENT RIGHT: KEY RECOMMENDATIONS:

LEARNING FROM INCIDENT


Local motorcyclist ran into a company 4x4 vehicle (IN-20221210-001)
DESCRIPTION: On December 10, 2022, at 16:16 hours while travelling between locations, a local motorcyclist ran into a company 4x4 vehicle and
hit the vehicle’s running board from driver’s side. The motorcyclist sustained minor injuries / bruises. He was taken to hospital for first aid
