Classification of Law
Law (includes):
1. National law –
i. Public law - (Constitutional law, administrative law, criminal law)
ii. Private (civil) law – (contract, law, tort, family, company, banking, others)
2. International law
There is multilateral law where multiple countries agree on something.
There is bilateral law where 2 countries agree on something.
Notes:
International law is obeyed via consent, whereas national law does not include consent.
Private law only bounds a person when they have a link to it. Example is someone isn’t
subject to banking law if they don’t have a bank account.
Public law bounds every person living in the country at the time.
Civil law deals with someone’s rights, duties, and liability.
Criminal case deals with offenses against the law.
Constitutional cases deal with human rights.
