attendance list, e.g., Student number 3 chooses video number 3. The attendance list is
attached. Watch the video and answer the questions below.
1. List all the words which are ended by voiced consonant in the video! Prove your
answers with phonetic transcriptions!
2. List all the words that contain diphthong in the video and then identify whether they
are “centering” or “closing” diphthong. Prove your answers with phonetic
transcriptions!
3. Draw the syllable structure diagram (onset, rhyme, nucleus, coda) of all the words in
the video title!
4. Collect all compound words in the video then mark the stressed syllable!
5. Identify the types of intonation (rise/ fall) in each sentence in the video!
Example:
A shopping dialogue between a shop keeper (SK) and a buyer (B)
SK : Can I help you (rise)?
B : I'd like a chocolate ice-cream (fall).
SK : One chocolate ice-cream (fall). Anything else (rise)?
B : One strawberry ice-cream (fall).
SK : One chocolate (rise), one strawberry (fall-rise).
