Al- Mustafa Schools- Department of Supervision Final Exam Grade: 11S Section A,B
Exercise 1: (7 points)
Remark: parts A and B are independent.
A. 4 capacitors are connected as shown in the adjacent document
The voltage between A and B is UAB=24V.
Given:
C2
C1 C4 C1=3𝜇𝐹
A B
C3
C2=C3=1𝜇𝐹
C4=6𝜇𝐹
1. Calculate the equivalent capacitor between A and B.
2. Calculate the total charge carried by the equivalent capacitor.
3. Determine the charge of each capacitor.
Exercise 2: (6 points)
A ball of mass m=100g is released from a height h=10m. The ground is taken as a reference for gravitational
potential energy.
A. Friction is neglected:
1. Is the system (ball-earth) considered conservative? Explain.
2. Calculate the mechanical energy of the system when the ball is released.
3. Show that the speed of the ball upon reaching the ground is vg=14m/s.
B. Friction ( f ) is not neglected:
In fact the ball reaches the ground with a speed v=10m/s, due to existence of friction force f during its
motion.
1. Calculate the work of the weight acting on the ball during its downward motion and write the
expression of the work done by the force of friction in terms of f.
2. Apply the kinetic energy theorem to calculate the magnitude of the friction force f.
Exercise 3: (7 points)
A. A magnetized needle is free to rotate in a horizontal plane around its axis, is placed on a point O
considered the center of a solenoid. When the current in the solenoid is zero, the magnetic needle
remains in equilibrium on the axis of the coil as shown n the figure below, oriented along the horizontal
component Bh of the earth’s magnetic field.
Given: Bh=2 × 10−5 𝑇.

length is L=30cm.
⃗ created by the solenoid at its center O.
Find the characteristics of the magnetic field 𝐵
⃗ 𝑟 on O.
2. Find the resulting magnetic field 𝐵
B. A long straight conducting wire parallel to the axis of the solenoid at a distance d=5cm from O is
