Part 1 Essay

Nowadays there is a wide range of sports which young people can play, from cooperative-
competitive sports and opposition-cooperative sports to individual competitive sports. Having
all of them many benefits and disadvantages depending on the purpose each individual focus
on.

In terms of usage of time, there is a huge difference between investing your appreciate
time in playing videogames about sports rather than doing those sports in a pitch surrounded
by your close friends in a summery competition or just throughout a whole school year in a
federalized team. It has been always said that time invested in active sport whether
competitive or non-competitive is a great idea. Nevertheless, the goal does not necessarily
have to be to win the trophy in the final of the competition, but developing team values,
respect, fair play and sportsmanship, charisma, sense of leadership, pleasure and fulfilment.

The pros and cons in relation with health and healthy wholesome lifestyle are very clear
and comprehensive so that when children are involved in a sport competition, all of them are
going to train twice or thrice weekly reaching levels of sport recommendations in light of World
Health Organisation. Children and teenagers are probably going to socialize even more than if
they were doing any other activity of their age such as playing streaming videogames.
Furthermore, they will develop the so relevant eye-hand coordination, flexibility, strength,
speed, resistance and team responsibility.

The only cons about doing competitive sports are that young people can be easily injured,
they can also feel non-positive emotions such as frustration when losing a match or
championship or isolation and bullying. On the other hand, these sports require much energy,
time and money which many families might not have. I mean, for example, bringing children to
the matches, the tuition of the federated team and excess of extracurricular activities.

Finally, there are more positives values than negatives in competitive sports and that is
the reason why every single young person in the world should be given the opportunity of
being involved in sport competitions.
