Safety first

 Always check and make sure that the tool is in a good condition and suitable for the job to be carried
out (condition of the housing, wires,…).
 When installing the tool on a machine that is under voltage, always install sensors with electrical
insulated gloves PN 2908 0155 00 and eye/facial protection.
 For current measurement of a compressor, install the tool inside the compressor. Close the compressor
electrical cubicle door in order to prevent unauthorized persons gain access to the electrical
compartment.
 If the tool is used outside a compressor, make sure the logger is installed in a safe place, with wires
properly strapped in order to avoid tripping hazard.
 Always follow the safety regulations and wear protective clothing according to local legislation.

Components

Current Coil:
Place the flexible current clamp around the power line that has to be measured. Close the
current clamp. For the best measurement accuracy, please measure at the position as
indicated in the picture below: this is the location of calibration.

PM 2946 2027 00 Page 4 of 11

The current clamp is not sensible to current direction flow (AC). The iiTrak2 measures both the
base frequency (50 or 60 Hz) component of the input signal and the True-RMS value. Both
measurements can be viewed on the LCD display. Only the base frequency component is
logged.

4…20 mA Connector:
iiTrak2 has one 4…20mA passive analogue input. Connect an active sensor to the input
connector as shown below. Passive sensors can also be connected if an external power supply
is used.

Display:
The OLED display can be read out in the dark and from any angle.
Press the button between 1 and 3 seconds to enable the display. The display shows
information as follows:
 First 3 seconds: General information shown:

The following data are displayed:

o Software version. Please make sure to use the latest version. The file and
installation instructions are available on the AIRchitect Community.
o Battery voltage of AA battery
o Remaining days on battery. It should be noted this number is indicative. It’s
calculated from the battery profile of the Duracell batteries which are included
in the package. When using different batteries, the number is not very
reliable. Therefore, we strongly advise to use a new Alkaline AA battery for
every new measurement.
o Remaining days on internal memory. The memory can only be cleared by
reading in the data in AIRchitect.
 Next 27 seconds: the 3 measured currents are shown

PM 2946 2027 00 Page 5 of 11

You can go back to the “general information” screen by pressing the button.
 The display is switched off to save energy. The timeout for the screen is 30 seconds.
However, if the push button is pressed 3 times within 2 minutes, the timeout is
increased to 5 minutes.

Button:
A push on the button results in next actions:
 A push between 1 and 3 seconds will switch on the display.
 A push between 3 and 6 seconds will show the “stop log” progress bar on the display
 A push longer than 6 seconds will effectively stop the logging.

Battery Compartment:
The device is powered by a single Alkaline AA battery. Rechargeable batteries are not allowed.
The iiTrak2 has no power On/Off switch. When the battery is in place, the logger will
immediately be ready for operation. Removing the battery during the first 200s results in no
stored measurements (measurements are grouped in packets of 200 seconds before storing
them to the internal disk).

USB:
When connected over USB, the iiTrak2 acts as a 128MB USB drive. The drive is formatted by
the iiTrak2 itself. No formatting by a PC is required.

Operation

There is NO need to pre-configure the device (using AIRchitect / ME Box). Time

synchronization happens at read-out of the device by AIRchitect. At that moment, the iiTrak log
file gets synchronized with the PC clock time.

Logging starts when an Alkaline AA battery is inserted (USB disconnected) and no errors are
detected. The display shows a blinking “REC”.

In case an error is detected, instead of a blinking “REC”, the display shows “REC off” and a
blinking error code. Following error codes are possible:

Error code Description

E1 The internal real time clock failed.
E2 The lithium battery for the internal real time clock is low.
E3 The iiTRAK2 calibration values are incorrect.

PM 2946 2027 00 Page 6 of 11

E4 The logging memory is not functioning correctly.

In case of an error, the devide cannot be used anymore. Please return it to AIRpower for
investigation.

Logging stops when:

 pressing the button for longer than 6 seconds. The display shows a progress bar to
indicate when logging shall stop. To continue measurements a battery remove and
place should be done. The display shows “REC off”.
 the battery is removed. If this is done without pressing the red button first, up to 200
seconds of data can be lost.
 USB connection is made. The device never logs when USB is connected.
 Internal memory is full
 Battery voltage drops below 1,25V. In this case, the display shows “Do not remove
battery before downloading logfile!”

Attention! to make sure synchronization is not lost, please do NOT remove the battery after
logging. Wait till AFTER read-out in AIRchitect to do this.

Connecting the iiTRAK2 to a PC with a USB cable:

 When the iiTRAK2 is connected to a PC with a USB cable, the PC will detect a
128MB drive. Normal disk operations can then be performed.
 The following files can be seen on this drive:
o The active log file, which contains the most recently measured data. One of
these files can be seen (but not both):
 IITRAK2.TMP: without time synchronization
 IITRAK2.LOG: with time synchronization
o IITRAK2.OLD: A backup of the previous log file. Every time a new log is
started, the previous log file is backed up.
o IITRAK2.BTY: Contains the battery profile, which is used to estimate the
amount of logging left based on the battery voltage.

Please note: inserting the battery will start a new measurement. In case there is no
IITRAK2.TMP (e.g. after readout of the iiTRAK2), this file will be created. In case IITRAK2.TMP
already existed, the old data in this file wil NOT be deleted. The new measurement data will
simply be added to this file under a new header.

Read-out of the logged data:

There are two ways to download logged data:

1) Download from an iiTrak2 device:
 Make sure the logging is stopped.
 Connect the iiTRAK2 to a PC with a USB cable.
2) Download from a USB drive
 Put the IITRAK2.LOG file on the USB drive

PM 2946 2027 00 Page 7 of 11

 Connect the USB drive to the PC
Please note: downloading the IITRAK2.OLD file is also possible: Put the file on the USB
drive. Rename the file to IITRAK2.LOG. Connect the USB drive to the PC

Open AIRchitect

Select the iiTrak icon from the “Loggers/Sensors” list on the left and drag it into the compressor
room at the right of the screen.

Connect the iiTrak icon to a compressor symbol (use left connecting point of iiTrak) and/or to a
pressure sensor symbol (use right connecting point of iiTrak).

Right-click the iiTrak icon in the compressor room designer. Choose “download data”

Select “iiTrak2”

Select the correct iiTrak2 device or USB drive (more than 1 device/drive can be connected to
the PC).

PM 2946 2027 00 Page 9 of 11

Downloading of the data starts. Please note when downloading from an iiTrak2 device, this
could take up to 75 seconds in case the log file would contain 4 weeks of data. The users gets
feedback of this download process by the progress bars in AIRchitect and on the iiTrak2 device
itself.

=> =>

When the download is complete:

 A blue dot appears on the iiTrak symbol in AIRchitect, as shown in the pictures above.
 IITRAK2.TMP (if any on the iiTrak) changed into “IITRAK2.LOG” on the drive.
 If the iiTrak2 was connected to a compressor, the “Set Level Designer” screen pops up
in AIRchitect. (no pop up screen if the iiTrak2 was connected to a pressure sensor)

Calibration

iiTrak2 devices are low cost devices and thus are not part of the AIRScan exchange pool.
After 4 years, please perform a check on the accuracy using a calibrated reference tool. If the
device is outside the accuracy band, please replace. If not, it can be used for another year,
after which it should be checked again. Please note the internal battery, which powers the
real-time clock, has a life expectancy of 10 years.

Storage and transport

After use, always take out the battery. Store the iiTrak2’s in their original packagings.
For safekeeping of iiTrak2’s during transport, the iiTrak2 start-up kit 1630203920 is available:
up to 4 iiTrak2’s in a Peli Case.
