Introduction of Industry
In the year 1965 Vitthalbhai Haribhai Hadvani started
manufacturing traditional Namkeen in village Bhadra, district Rajkot.
With the clear vision and boundless enthusiasm of his son Bipinbhai
Vitthalbhai Hadvani, The foundation stone of Gopal Namkeen was laid
in 1994 and the legacy is continued till date.

Since Dec. 2009, with one of the biggest automatic plant of

Gujarat situated at Metoda GIDC, Rajkot with production capacity
spreaded over 75,000 Sq. ft. which is expanded up to 2,00,000 Sq. ft.
standing over 20,000 Sq. mt. of land, the enterprise has evolved to
become a taste tycoon of the state which is famous for its delightful
delicacies. The next step on the ladder for Gopal Snacks Pvt. Ltd. is to
make its presence felt on the National platform.

The cheerful success of their venture spurred them to establish a

Gruh Udyog plant at Amar Nagar, Rajkot during the first decade of the
new millennium. With a view to take a technological leap and enhance
the quality and taste of the products, a semi-automatic plant at Vajadi
(Vad) was set up just before the end of the decade with new ambitions
and a new name "Gopal Snacks Pvt. Ltd".

Porter’s Five forces

1.Competitive Rivalry:
High Competition Branded Players involved in cut-throat
competition to increase market share, entice new consumers, find
new market.Quality difference between branded and unbranded
offerings is offset by low price offered by unbranded players.
Brand Loyalty is high for branded players Eg: - Balaji Food Ltd.,
Gopal Namkeens, etc

2.Bargaining power of supplier:

 Suppliers provide raw materials such as gram flour, dry
fruits, spices and other ingredients. Their ability to raise input
costs is high.Higher cost of input commodities leads to lower
margins, making the market unattractive for distributors and
retailers. Shortage of any input material may also affect production
and thereby impact distribution. Veteran players like Lays and
Balaji already have a well-established network of suppliers.

3.Threat of new entry:

 Namkeen market- 2000crore As the market is growing at 30
percent annually, new entrants may consider it a profitable
venture. As branded players are priced similarly, new players
might penetrate by adopting a lower price or by offering more
grams at the same price. New players with a distinct USP and
marketing strategy may find it easier to enter the market (Om
Namkeen). Unorganized players still account for half of the total
segment, thereby discouraging market entry. Veteran players such
as Haldiram etc enjoy economies of scale, well-established
distribution and good distributor relations.
Introduction and History of the Company
Gopal Namkeen was founded
by two brothers, Bipinbhai Hadvani is a founder of Gopal Namkeen Pvt.
Ltd. He was born in the small village of Jamkandorna, Gujrat. Their
family ran a small snacks shop in the village but they didn’t get
sufficient profit from the snacks shop. In 1990 Bipinbhai Hadvani and
his family members came to Rajkot and invested 8500 Rupees in the
“Ganesh Brand Nankeen” shop. They were getting a good amount of
money as compared to the old shop. After that success, Bipinbhai took a
loan and In 1994, they started Gopal Nankeen shop with Daxaben
Hadvani (wife of Bipinbhai Hadvani) and Ashokbhai and Rekhaben
Rokad (Brother in law Sister) joined the snacks business. The Gopal
Nankeen during the initial days, supply to the local market of Rajkot.
Their snack got a massive response from the local market and
Bipinbhai’s brother Prafulbhai Hadvani came to join the family business
in December 2000. The Gopal Nankeen established their own
production line at Raj Nagar society, Rajkot.
The Gopal Nankeen journey started with homemade chavanu by
Vittalbhai Hadvani and Nowadays it has become a huge snack
manufacturing industry. The Gopal Nankeen has 55 plus products like 9
snack pallet products, 16 Farsan products, and 8 Nankeen products. The
total production capacity of 150 tons per day and snacks pallet plant
with a manufacturing capacity of 35 tons per day in 1800 sq. meter area.
The Gopal Nankeen has a claim to pay 1000 Cr in India and they
set up a new plant in Nagpur at a cost of Rs 60 Cr. The new facility’s
main aim is to capture the Maharashtra, South, and Central India snacks
market. They have also included some seasoning products like Papad,
Chilly Powder, Turmeric Powder, Cumin Powder, and Coriander
Powder.
The Gopal Namkeen has focused on the latest technologies
and automated types of machinery to fulfil the demands of the Nankeen
products. In 2009 established a fully automated plant, No human hand
touch to the product, fully automated transfer system from raw material
input to the final output of production, Packing, and warehouse. The
automatic warehouse system was cost-effective and had no human
resources requirements. In 2014 they started their own ‘In-House
Logistics Service’ to distribute products and provide the best quality
service to each channel partner. They have 90 plus heavy-duty truck
vehicles, these vehicles require Maintenance, Repair, Servicing,
