9.2 CUTTING WORKS and materials against slugs

Fire Ignition
- Fire watcher should be at work area 30mins before and after
activity
- Remove pressure hose if not in used
- Consider watering the work area prior, during and after hot
works
- Consider providing temporary shield to protect other personnel
and materials against slugs
- Ensure that the approved hot work permit is available at the
worksite prior to the start of cutting.
9.3 CUTTING USING
Slugs / Heat - Provide adequate working distance to the cutter.
GRINDER - Enclose or barricade the area. Do not let anyone enter the line
of fire.
- Cutting personnel shall wear appropriate protective clothing
and PPE.
- Use disc which are compatible to the grinder`s rpm
Cutting Disc
- Do not use expired grinding and cutting disc
- Consider watering the work area prior, during and after hot
works
Fire
- Remove all identified fire inducer materials at the worksite.
- Provide fire extinguisher and firewatcher at the worksite.
- Observe wind direction
Fumes / Gases - Cutting personnel shall wear recommended 3M (N95) fume
mask.
9.4 GRINDING WORKS Electrical hazard - Make sure that grinder power button is off before plugging to
the source
- Power source must have installed GFCI
- Do not use grinder and extension with damaged or exposed
wire.
- Do not use grinder that was exposed to rain.
- Make sure the grinder is not connected with the power source
while changing grinding disc

- Inspect the unit`s wiring for cuts and damages
- Always unplug the grinder when not in use.
- Do not use the grinder without disc guards and handle.
Rotating parts
- Provide adequate working distance to the worker who is using
the grinder.
- Use disc which are compatible to the grinder rpm
Grinding Disc
- Do not use expired grinding and cutting disc
- Make a comfortable and balance position when doing grinding
works.
Repetitive movements
- Avoid awkward positions
- Make a regular rest interval during grinding.
- Proper donning and dopping of PPE after grinding
- Clean first the top side of face shield and hard hat before
Foreign Object removing
- Wear impact goggles and face shield
- Provide eye wash near work area
- Provide adequate working distance to the welder.
- Enclose or barricade the area. Do not let anyone enter the line
9.5 WELDING WORKS Slugs / Heat
