Allergic rhinitis is a universal health problems that the nasal passages, sinuses, ears, and
throat. Also known as pollinosis and hay fever. There are two types of allergic rhinitis. Seasonal
allergy sufferers develop symptoms during spring, fall, or both seasons when they become
exposed to airborne pollen and outdoor mold spores. Perennial allergic rhinitis, which is year-
around, is caused by indoor allergens such as house dust, pet dander, dust mites, and indoor
molds. It occurs when an allergic person inhales an allergen to which they are sensitive. Itching,
watery nose, sore throat, sneezing, runny nose, postnasal drip, and congestion of the nose, ears,
During an allergy attack, you may also experience exhaustion and an overall sense of being
“unwell”. It’s caused by exposure to allergens, these common allergens are pollen, some tiny
particles in the air, dust, smoke, fur, etc. Allergens is commonly harmless to people but if you
have seasonal rhinitis these allergens will be considered as unwelcome to your immune system
According to Stappen (2019) the primary effect of ginger inhalation is achieved by the
odor the inhalation combines the effect given by the ginger’s active compounds and its pungent
smell, making it as a good alternative for the treatment of infectious diseases of the upper
respiratory tract as well. Its antinausea, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, and analgesic effects have
made ginger and its preparations highly valued in the medical world. Ginger and its extracts have
been valued for their medical properties including antinausea, antiinflammation, antipyresis and
analgesia properties.(Casula,2021)
(Perra,2021) If ginger is used accurately, it can offer an alternative treatment for allergic rhinitis.
Ginger can not only lessen symptoms but also help to prevent them completely. It can also
strengthen your body’s tissues and organs, which will help your health. (Kato,2021) Despite the
fact that allergic rhinitis is not a life threatening condition it can still have a number of problem if
it remains uncureable it will eventually drive up medical costs and possibly developing into
asthma.(Manca, 2021)
Most saline nasal sprays are isotonic, which means the solution is the same saline
concentration as in your body. Hypertonic versions have a higher concentration of salt than
what’s in your body. Both types can help clear mucus. Ginger sprays also help keep the cilia in
your nose healthy. Cilia are small hair-like structures that help humidify air goin ing to your
lungs, trap bacteria to keep them from entering the cells, and aid your sense of smell. By keeping
cilia healthy, saline sprays may help treat rhinitis and sinusitis.
To make the solution, mix 3 teaspoons of saline, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1
tablespoon of Ginger extract. Store this mixture in a small clean jar. When you are ready to use
it, mix a teaspoon of the mixture into 8 ounces of distilled, sterile, or previously boiled and
cooled water. Store the solution at room temperature not exceeding 30°C and mix it before to use
it.
To use it, fill the empty plastic nasal spray with the solution. Tilt your head to one side
and pour the solution into one nostril. Aim the stream toward the back of your head, not at the
top of your head. Never force it into your nose. The solution will go into your nasal cavity and
run out the other nostril. Adjust the position of your head to keep it from running down the back
of your throat. Spray sufficient amount of solution in each nostril 3 to 4 times daily. Blow nose
or sniff after each application to expel mucus secretion. Can be used daily without rebound nasal
congestion or harm to the nasal tissue. Side effects usually do not occur with use of this product.
The researcher aims to construct an alternative treatment for allergic rhinitis using ginger
extract with mixture of saltwater (saline), considering there still no cure for it. Allergic people
happens to always be triggered by allergen not only once in a day. Home remedy nasal spray is
more cheaper than some medicine that you can’t easily find in some drug store. Ginger nasal
spray is use to reduce sensitivity on the particular allergens. Saline with extract of ginger can
help to thin mucus, give you less postnasal drip, and cleanse your nasal passages of pollen and
other allergens.
This study aims to seek for effectiveness of Ginger as an alternative treatment for

has been developed and is being advocated as an alternative therapy for rhinitis and
rhinosinusitis. It was made by combining the liposomes’ strengthening effect on barrier function,
sodium hyaluronan’s moisturizing and lubricating characteristics, and the anti-inflammatory and
antioxidant capabilities of Zingiber officinalis extract. The extract was placed into specialized
phospholipid vesicles immobilized with hyaluronic acid (hyalurosomes) for this purpose, and the
water phase was further enhanced with glycerol. Glycerosomes and liposomes were also created
and utilized as a guide. The overall collected data suggest that vesicles are suitable as nasal
spray.
Allergic rhinitis has a severe impact on patients’ life quality, and the incidence rate keeps
increasing. Moxibustion is widely used for treating allergic rhinitis, and quantity is the basis of
moxibustion efficacy. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the relationship between the
different quantities of moxibustion and the efficacy of moxibustion in the treatment of allergic
rhinitis. This study may be conducive to the standardization of moxibustion and explore the
dose-effect relationship of moxibustion providing data and new ideas (Wen, 2022).
According to Manconi (2021) Zingiber officinalis (Z. Officinalis) extract and citral were
synergistically loaded into specially engineered phospholipid vesicles to create natural nasal
spray formulations. The nasal mucosal barrier stabilizing properties of the phospholipid vesicles
were chosen, and Z co-loading increased their potency even further. Citral serves as an
extract.

METHODOLOGY
This chapter presents the methodology employed to investigate the efficiency of Zingiber
Officinale (ginger) nasal spray for allergic rhinitis. It describes the research design, participant
selection, intervention procedures, data collection, and analysis methods used in the study. The
RESEARCH DESIGN
The study design for evaluating the efficiency of Zingiber officinale (ginger) nasal spray
for allergic rhinitis can be based on a randomized controlled trial (RCT). The RCT design allows
for comparing the effects of the nasal spray against a control group and helps establish a cause-
National High School. Evaluating the efficiency of Zingiber Officinale (ginger) nasal spray for
allergic rhinitis, the respondents would typically include individuals who meet certain criteria
related to allergic rhinitis. The target population would be individuals who suffer from allergic
passages due to an allergic response to specific allergens, such as pollen, dust mites, or pet
dander. Respondents should have a confirmed diagnosis of allergic rhinitis, based on clinical
history, physical examination, and possibly allergy testing. Respondents should have moderate to
severe allergic rhinitis symptoms to evaluate the effectiveness of the intervention. Exclude
individuals with contraindications to ginger or any components of the nasal spray, such as known
allergies or hypersensitivity.
Intervention
The experimental group received Zingiber Officinale nasal spray as the intervention. The
nasal spray was prepared using a standardized formulation containing a specific concentration of
ginger extract. The dosage, frequency, and duration of the nasal spray application were
predetermined based on previous research and expert recommendations. The control group
received a placebo nasal spray or standard treatment, depending on the existing standard of care
for allergic rhinitis. The placebo nasal spray was formulated to resemble the experimental
intervention in appearance, taste, and smell but did not contain the active ingredients of Zingiber
Officinale.
