MDCT BRAIN (PLAIN)


Ultrafast scan of the brain has been performed from base of skull to vertex. Thin reconstruction (2 mm) is done
with interval of 2 mm. Reformation in coronal and sagittal planes was also done.

FINDINGS
Bilateral cerebral sulci, cisterns, lateral and 3rd ventricles are dilated- s/o generalized
cerebral atrophy.
Extensive confluent hypodensities are seen in bilateral periventricular white matter
and centrum semiovale- chronic small vessel ischemic changes.
Bilateral basal ganglia and thalami are normal.
Posterior fossa structures including 4th ventricle are normal.
No evidence of extradural or subdural collection is seen.
Bony structures are normal.

IMPRESSION:
● Generalized cerebral atrophy- age related
● Chronic small vessel ischemic changes in bilateral periventricular
white matter and centrum semiovale
