1.0 Scope
This specification details the minimum inspection, testing and certification requirements for finished machined 12%
Cr. wear parts, overlaid with rod welded Colmonoy 5 or 6 suitable for both normal and sour service duties.
Sulzer approved supplier - Fisher Products. Tulsa, Oklahoma 74107-2750, USA.
2.0 Material
2.1 The grade of Colmonoy shall be as stated in Sulzer Purchase Order.
2.2 The base material type shall be ASTM A 276 Gr 410, ASTM A479 Gr 410 or UNS 41000.
2.3 The chemical composition of the base material shall conform to the following: -

0.15 Max 11.5 – 13.0 0.25 Max 1.0 Max 0.05 Max 0.04 Max 0.03 Max
2.4 To comply with the requirements of NACE Standard MR0175 the hardness of the base material must not exceed
22HRC following the isothermal annealing cycle referred to in clause 4.1.
3.0 Material Certification
3.1 The base material supplier shall provide a certified record of Chemical Analysis in accordance with EN 10204
Inspection Certificate 3.1.
3.2 All test reports certificates shall be complete, legible and suitable for reproduction.
3.3 All test reports and certificates shall be in the English language or, if this is not possible, accompanied by a certified
English language translation of critical information.
4.0 Overlay Welding
4.1 Hard facing of 12% Cr steels base materials with welded overlays require special controls in order to avoid cracking
of the hard facing during cooling. This cracking is avoided by a furnace-controlled isothermal annealing cycle.
5.0 Inspection
5.1 The materials specified in the Purchase Order may be subject to inspection by Sulzer and/or their client’s
representatives. Such inspections do not relieve the Supplier from his obligations to carry out sufficient inspection
and testing of his own to verify compliance with specifications/Purchase Order requirements.
5.2 Sulzer and/or client’s representatives shall be afforded access and assistance at all reasonable times throughout the
duration of the Purchase Order to carry out inspection and witness tests at the Supplier’s premises.

5.3 Where ‘Witness’ or ‘Hold’ points have been assigned and unless specified otherwise, the Supplier shall notify Sulzer
giving at least 5 working days (excluding Saturday and Sunday) advance notice and 1 full working day to confirm that
the inspection activity is on schedule or otherwise.
6.0 General Notes
6.1 To enable positive identification of materials and their associated certification on receipt.
a) All certification and delivery advice documentation must include the Sulzer Purchase Order number and Line
Item number as referenced in the Sulzer Purchase Order
b) Materials are to be individually identified at a prominent location to maintain traceability to delivery
documentation and associated certification
6.2 Certification shall be provided on or prior to delivery of the material.
6.3 Acceptance of the material shall be on receipt of acceptable certification by Sulzer.
6.4 All standards referenced shall be current issues unless stated otherwise.
6.5 Failure to comply with the above requirements could result in rejection or delayed payment of invoices.
