Fire has the ability to keep us warm and also has the ability to make us homeless.

As our community
grows and technology advances, fire prevention must become more of a necessity in our homes. More
homes are being built with lighter materials and are being built closer together. Each can cause
widespread fire devastation, loss of homes, displacement of people, and even death.

If you live or work in a fire-prone area, you must be aware of the dangers and take precautions to stay
safe. To begin, stay up to date on the most recent fire safety guidelines. Understand the signs of a fire,
how to safely extinguish it, and what supplies should be kept on hand in case of an emergency. Regularly
check the news and fire safety websites for updates on new fire safety guidelines. The next step is to be
aware of one's surroundings. If there is any indication that a fire is nearby, leave the area immediately
and call for assistance. If a person is unable to leave immediately, try to escape as soon as possible by
climbing any available stairs or exiting through a window. Keep an appropriate distance from open
flames. Do not use your hands to extinguish a burning object; instead, use water or a bucket. When
putting out a fire, use water sparingly and avoid coming into contact with the flames. Wear protective
clothing such as long pants, sleeves, gloves, and, if necessary, eye protection.

Let us always remember that fire can be our good friend but it has the possibility to become a foe. It will
not just burn the woods on our stoves or the thread in our candles but it can also burn our house down
literally into tiny little ashes with our loved ones in it. And we must not let this happen. We must strive
to prevent fire accidents and destruction and protect our loved ones.
