helicopter variant (see rigging data i n f i g . 102-3). Use vernier
caliper t o take t h e measurement. Position rigging segment (3, f i g .
102-2) so t h a t rigging pin (6) can be f u l l y inserted through t h e
O 0 bore (7, f i g . 102-3) without displacing the actuator input lever.
Fix the rigging segment i n t h i s position by tightening t h e corres-
ponding setscrew (8, f i g . 102-2) .
C. Set the rigging segment (1) f o r t h e l a t e r a l control i n the Same way a s
described i n s t e p b. f o r t h e longitudinal control.
d. Move the collective servo actuator piston t o i t s lowermost position.

Maintain a s l i g h t a x i a l force on t h e pin t o keep i t s wedge-shaped t i p
i n t i g h t contact w i t h t h e two centering rod ends i n the actuator input
lever. In t h i s condition move t h e rigging pin together with the in-
put lever and the rigging segment up just enough t o extend the'actu-

Pedal clamp assembly 105--31702 W20

Rigging is basically the same as that described in para 102--24, except that rigging device 105--31702 W21 is
installed on the tail rotor head as shown in fig. 102--16, (instead of adjusting device 117--43001 W1 or W3). In
order to adjust the length of the control rod in the vertical fin with the pedals in line, the tail rotor blades are locked
by inserting the rigging pin (4) either in the +9_ groove (for helicopters S/N 350 and prior) or in the +7_ bore
(for helicopters S/N 351 and subsq.) of rigging device 105--31702 W21. The pedal stop screws shall be adjusted
so that the blade grip can be pinned through the +18_ groove of rigging fixture 105--31702 W21 with the left
pedal full down, and through the --6_ groove with the right pedal full down.

1 ) Remove cotter pins from balance weights.

2 ) Reducing the distance between the balance weight and the blade grip
centerline hy 1 mm results in a reduction in torque of approx. 3%.
Increasing the distance between them by 1 mm results in an increase
in torque of approx. 3%.
3) If engine torque is still too high with the balance weights at
their innermost position, an equal amount of material must be
removed from all four balance weights. However, the weight of the
individual balance weights must not be less than 120 g for
symmetrical-chord blades or 105 g for asymmetrical-chord blades.
The heaviest balance weight must not be more than 1 g heavier than
the lightest balance weight.
If the specified torque cannot be obtained with the balance weights
at their outermost positions, install oversize balance weights
weighing 1 4 5 g.
4) Safety the balance weights using identical cotter pins.
C. Perform the following manoeuvres in hover flight:
- rearward flight
- left and right sideward flight
- left and right turns at maximum 90 degrees per second.

The helicopter must exhibit normal flight characteristics during

these manoeuvres.

6. Adjustment - tail r o t o r balance weights

The pedal r e t a i n i n g forces can be adjusted within a p a r t i c u l a r range by

a l t e r i n g t h e depth of thread engagement of t h e balance weights.
a. The permissible pedal r e t a i n i n g f o r c e ranges a r e a s follows:
Hover f l i g h t , l e f t pedal . ............0N t o 30 N
Cruise f l i g h t , r i g h t pedal . . . . . . . . . . . .0N t o 15 N
Cruise f l i g h t , l e f t pedal . . . . . . . . . . . .0N t o 15 N
Pedal r e t a i n i n g f o r c e i n c r u i s e f l i g h t should be kept a s low a s
possible.
b. Determination of t h e required balance weight adjustment.
A change i n t h e depth of engagement of t h e balance weights does not
a f f e c t t h e pedal r e t a i n i n g f o r c e i n hover and i n c r u i s e f l i g h t t o t h e
Same e x t e n t , but i n accordance with t h e following t a b l e 102-6.
Therefore, when determining t h e required adjustment, which depends
on both r e s u l t a n t measurements obtained from s t e p s 5.b. and 5.c. it i s
necessary t o estimate t h e e f f e c t of t h e adjustment on t h e pedal
r e t a i n i n g force i n hover and i n c r u i s e f l i g h t (see Example 1 ) .

C. Remove c o t t e r pins and a d j u s t balance weights a s required.
d. Secure balance weights, using Same c o t t e r p i n s .
