B. Pharm Sem-IV, Pre- RUHS end semester Examination - June-2019 Paper- II


Duration: 3 hours Subject: MEDICINAL CHEMISTRY Total marks: 75
Instructions to candidates:
1. Do not write anything on question paper except roll no., otherwise it shall be deemed as an act of indulging in unfair means and action shall be taken as per rules.
2. Section-A contains Q-1 and Q-2 with five (5) questions each. All the ten objective type questions are compulsory and carry equal marks. (10x2=20)
3. Section-B contains Q-3 and Q-4 and Q-5. Answer any TWO questions among the three descriptive type questions and carry 10 marks equals. (2x10=20)
4. Section-C contains Q-6 and Q-7 with five and four sub division. Answer any four and three questions of choice among the short answer type questions and all carry
5 marks each. (7x5=35)

Section-B (Answer any two of the following questions in long answer)

3. a). Discuss in detail about phase-I & phase-II reaction of drug metabolism. (5)
(b). Classify Sedatives and Hypnotics. Give SAR, MOA of Benzodiazepines & barbiturates. Give the synthesis & uses of Diazepam. (5)
4. a) Classify Anticonvulsants drugs. Give SAR of Anticonvulsants, mechanism of anticonvulsant action of Barbiturates. Give the synthesis of Phenytoin. (5)
(b) Give the synthesis, uses & MOA of following drugs. (5)
(1) Chlorpromazine (2) Methohexital (3) Ketamine (4) Dicyclomine (5) Carbamazepine
5. a) Classify Narcotic and non-narcotic analgesics. Give SAR of Morphine analogues & synthesis, MOA & uses of Fentanyl. (5)
(b) Write down the synthesis, uses & MOA of following drugs. (5)
(1) Ethosuximide (2) Barbital (3) Neostigmine (4) Procyclidine (5) Methadone

6. Answer (ANY four) of the following question in short answer (4x5=20)
(a) Discuss and classify various types of bio isosterism with example (b) Explain various sites of drug action & factor affecting drug metabolism.
(c) Classiy sympathomimetic drugs with structure & give the SAR of sympathomimetic drugs, synthesis, MOA, Uses of phenylephrine &Salbutamol.
(d) Classify adrenergic antagonist drugs with example, structure, uses, MOA & synthesis of two drugs. Explain SAR of beta blockers.
(e) Classify Anti-inflammatory agents. Give synthesis, SAR, MOA & uses of Mefenamic acid & Ibuprofen.
7. Answer (ANY three) of the following question in short answer (3x5=15)
(a) Discuss about history, development in medicinal chemistry. (b) Discuss the biosynthesis and catabolism of catecholamine and acetylcholine
(c) Classify Parasympathomimetic. Give the SAR of Parasympathomimetic agents & Synthesis, MOA & uses of Carbachol.
(d) Classify Cholinergic blocking agents. Give SAR of cholinolytic agents & Synthesis, MOA & uses of Ipratropium bromide
(e) Classify Antipsychotics drugs. Give SAR, MOA & uses of Phenothiazeines. (f) Classify General anesthetics. Give Synthesis, SAR, MOA & uses of Halothane.
