Lubricant 947

Description
Lubricant 947 is a biodegradable, water dispersible and cost-effective lubricant for water-based
drilling fluids.

Applications
Lubricant 947 is designed to reduce torque and drag in all kinds of water-based drilling fluids. It
effectively reduces the friction coefficient of the wall cake and lessens the possibility of sticking.
Lubricant 947 lubricates both steel/steel and steel/soil interfaces.
Lubricant 947 disperses easily in any mud system and is compatible with all the common water-
based additives.

Treatment
The mud composition will suggest the proper concentration of the product. High solid muds will
require a higher concentration of Lubricant 947 than fresh systems. Lubricant 947 has no adverse
effects on mud properties.
A concentration of about 0.2 - 1.0 l/m³ is usually required in HDD applications. In case of
severe torque and drag problems higher concentrations up to 2 % volume may be required.
After an initial mixture, periodic treatments should be made to maintain the desired concentration.
