Module 2 Activity 1 on HUMAN DIGNITY

Humans are created in the image and likeness of God. God’s image is somewhat an
external likeness which may refer to man’s reason, free-will, self-consciousness, and so
on. Secondly God’s likeness implies something closer and more inward. It refers to
man’s moral powers, and especially to his capacity of attaining unto holiness.
Unfortunately, man has lost neither of these two after deliberately opposing God’s
Commandment to Love. Fortunately, they were still retained in a greater or less degree
through the Incarnation of the Word- Jesus Christ! Sinful man was brought into new life
with Christ by bringing salvation to everyone through the cross.
In what ways you can show to others a good image and likeness from God especially to
those who tend to destroy the sanctity of life?

As we are likened to the image and likeness of God, we should also embody most, if not all,
qualities that God has shown us based on the bible. By being a person for others, we can
fulfill the task of being empathetic, responsible and a loving person who can contribute to
the lives of many. Even a simple conversing to other people can create a huge impact
especially if you offer them advice that they consent on receiving. People who disturb the
peace of the life of others are just lost people who doesn’t know or have their calling yet,
probably because they are not in the status to do so, or certain issues are holding them
back into truly achieving what they dream of. Being a good image of God, we should help
them understand the way of life and that there is more to it than committing sins that may
possibly affect the rest of their lives. It is also important to listen to their side as we all have
sides to our own story, and listening is enough service to truly show that we are
compassionate. As we are privileged enough to provide such assistance, we should do our
best to inspire others to have a better life and thinking towards social issues so that they
may realize that God is there with and for us, continually guiding us to a future that we
deserve most.
