Award of the degree

(i) A candidate shall be awarded a:

• Pass
in Degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education, if he/she has obtained a
minimum GPA of 2.00 in courses adding up to sixty (60) course credits at Level 5 and 6 and,
a minimum of C grade for all courses at Level 5 and 6

• Second Class (Lower Division)

in Degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education, if he/she has obtained a
minimum GPA of 3.00 in courses adding up to sixty (60) course credits taking into consideration
the grades obtained at the first attempt of each examination at Level 5 and 6 and,
a minimum of B+ grade for EPU6835 (Teaching Practice at Primary Level) and,

• Second Class (Upper Division)

• in Degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education, if he/she has obtained a
minimum GPA of 3.30 in courses adding up to sixty (60) course credits taking into consideration
the grades obtained at the first attempt of each examination at Level 5 and 6 and,

a minimum of A- grade for EPU6835 (Teaching Practice at Primary Level) and,

• First Class
• In Degree of Bachelor of Education (Honours) in Primary Education, if he/she has obtained a
minimum GPA of 3.70 in courses adding up to sixty (60) course credits taking into consideration
the grades obtained at the first attempt of each examination at Level 5 and 6 and,

a minimum of A grade for EPU6835 (Teaching Practice at Primary Level) and,

a minimum of B grades for the remaining courses at Level 5 and 6.

• The Grade Point Average shall be computed as follows:

GPA = ∑ (GPV)(CR)

GPV = Individual Grade Point Value of Course
CR = Course Credit rating of course

GPA = Calculated to the second decimal place subject to a maximum of 4.00.
