Greetings! I am Nambozo Josephine, an Urban Management and Development Master’s
student at the Institute for Housing and Urban Development Studies (IHS), Erasmus
University Rotterdam, Netherlands. Currently, I am conducting my thesis about the influence
of conversion of agricultural land for built environment on food security in Kampala, Uganda.
In view of this, I would like to request for your time and consent for an interview which will
take at least an hour. I assure you that all information and personal details collected from this
interview will remain anonymous, confidential and used exclusively for purposes of this
research. Going forward, I would also like to ask for your permission to record this interview
for transcription.

Note: Briefly explain the perception to the respondents which deals with the personal
impression of conversion of agricultural land for built environment. Answers for this part
should be based on their experiences and opinions.
According to this study, Agricultural lands comprises of crop farms, livestock farms and
aquafarms (fish ponds).
What is your opinion about the state of agricultural land-use change from 2000 to 2020 in
Kampala (decreasing or increasing)?
What is the state of built environment land use change from 2000 to 2020 in your
community (decreasing or increasing)?
