RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT CATEGORY

❖ Prototype to Market-ready Product - provide support on


developing the minimum viable product for startups and startup
teams. The output of this assistance is a marketable and validated
products or services.

MAXIMUM GRANT CAP: P5 MILLION


QUALIFICATIONS
● Legally registered with the DTI or Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for a
minimum of one (1) year to a maximum of seven (7) years provided that the
business model has not been established.

● Has legal personality to issue an Official Receipt for the receipt of grants-in-aid;

● Have an early-stage prototype or proof of concept for the product or service. Ideas or
mere concepts are not allowed;

● Has demonstrated capability to conduct R&D and differentiate research from their
regular business operations;

● Must not have pending administrative or criminal case involving financial transactions
or must not have been previously found guilty or convicted with finality in case/s of
similar nature.
The following will automatically be disapproved:
1. Proposals from Organizations that are not qualified to submit
during this Call.
2. Proposals outside the Priority Areas of the Call.
3. Proposals submitted to any other Call route/s and/or Council/s.
4. Proposals not submitted through DPMIS.
5. Proposals from Startups that are not yet DTI/SEC registered for a
minimum of one (1) year and maximum of seven (7) years.
6. Proposals with no proof of concept (idea stage).
7. Proposals that exceeds the budget limit.

Tips on drafting methodologies

○ Researching for the product design should be done before proposing


■ There should already be a proposed design in the proposal
● which you seek to build, test, modify and deploy
■ Budget being requested is estimated based on a proposed design
■ Modification of the design may be part of the R&D

○ Include target clients as either cooperators or validators in the project


■ if the team targets to sell the product to LGUS, pls invite at least 1 LGU to use and provide
feedback on the product.
■ if the product is consumer-based, please include in the methodology how will user validation be
undertaken and the system in which to gather feedback.
