Onboarding and Introduction

Before class starts, there are a few things you’ll need to do


to be ready to go on Day 1. David explains what to expect and
how to get the most out of class.

The Essentials
The only requirement for this class is a deck of cards. We
encourage you to use a new deck of cards for class. Older
cards may be harder to practice with, but you can use any
deck. You’re also encouraged to get multiple decks of cards so
you can rip them, sign them, use duplicate cards, and have
access to different colored backs.

The Nice-to-Haves
The following optional items are used by David in class for
specific tricks. You can wait to purchase these until later in
class if you prefer.

FriXion Erasable Pens: David will use a heat sensitive


erasable pen in the Forces lesson.
Handcuffs: David will use these in the Breaking Handcuffs
lesson.

3. Asi Wind’s Intro to Card Handling


This supplemental lesson is designed for beginners and is
taught by magician Asi Wind. Starting on Day 1 of the class,
all teaching will be led by David Blaine.
Part 1 - The Principles of
Magic & Performance
In the first part of class, David shares the fundamental
principles of magic. You’ll learn some of David’s favorite
tricks — tricks that you’ll be able to perform right away.
Through these tricks, you’ll learn and practice classic
methods in magic, sleight of hand, performance, audience
psychology, and how to think like a magician. You’ll see how
David comes up with his own original presentations and
revelations, and how you can also make tricks your own. By the
end of Part 1, you’ll have practiced and performed an entire
repertoire of tricks, techniques, and principles of magic.

In this part, David reveals a collection of signature tricks
from his performances, television specials, and stage shows
throughout the years. Along the way, David explores some of
his most used methods, physical feats, and signature routines.
You’ll learn how to perform card flourishes, how to break a
pair of handcuffs, how to rip a deck of cards in half, and the
methods behind some of David’s most celebrated effects.

discover the secrets behind what it takes to create and
perform a dream-level effect.
