Task description: (37 marks)


Students will be required to research and present information about an inspirational individual who has a
disability. The selected individual must be from the provided list below who are all Australian and known to
have participated in sports with or prior to the disability. To assist with your research, ensure you gather
information for the following details: (24 marks)
1. Brief background information. (D.O.B, place of birth, siblings, their life prior to injury/ their family status
prior to them being born etc.) (3 marks)
2. Outline how they developed the disability and the impacts it has on their body. (4 marks)
3. Describe two major adversities they faced throughout their life since developing the disability. (4 marks)
4. Analyse the strategies they used to overcome their adversities. Outline how their strategies assisted them
in developing inclusivity, equality and/or respectful relationships. (7 marks)
5. Utilising their achievements, explain what makes them an inspirational Australian? (3 marks)
6. Identify a professional support organisation available for people with a similar disability and outline the
services they provide. (3 marks)

When the information has been gathered, create an engaging digital presentation that explores the individual’s
journey. Ensure you engage the audience by any means such as: asking questions, creating a practical element,
telling an interesting story in the life of the individual, displaying an interesting video, etc. The presentation
should be between 3-4 minutes in length and be completed in pairs.
