Literary Analysis
Literary Analysis

A literary analysis is not merely a summary of a


literary work. Instead, it is an argument about
the work that expresses a writer’s personal
perspective, interpretation or critical evaluation,
and judgment of the work. Analysis may focus
on the theme, plot, setting, and characters,
among other elements in literature. It can be
applied to novels, short stories, plays, poems,
or any other form of literary writing.
A Literary Analysis is a form of critical
analysis.

Writing a Critical Analysis


• Introduction – include the background of the
text.
• Body - discussion of the themes or context
found in the text.
• Conclusion - include your overall
impression on it.
Activity:

▪ Watch any tv or web series from


2021 – present.

• Write a critical analysis based on


your interpretations, reflections,
and evaluation on the themes
present in it.
Writing a Critical Analysis on a TV or Web Series
• Introduction – include a brief description on the
background of the series and the important details about it.
(as transitional statements)
• Body
Note: Follow the -Plot summary (1 paragraph only)
conventions in writing -Discussion of the context/s in the series
the introduction, body, -Discussion of themes found in the series (at least 3
and conclusion. themes and reflections on them, 1 parg. each theme)
• Conclusion - include your overall impression on it. (as
transitional statements)
• References in APA latest ed.
• Make a summary of the context/s and themes discussed in
the analysis. (bulleted)
Submit at least seven-paragraph critical analysis.

moral, biographical, etc.

awareness, patriotism, dilemma,
anxiety, struggles, good vs. evil, etc.
