LAB REPORT#01

Title:
To know about basic PC network TCP/IP configuration.
Theory:

IP Config:
In computing, ipconfig (internet protocol configuration) is a console application of
some operating systems that displays all current TCP/IP network configuration such as IP address,
subnet mask and default gateway for each adapter bounded to TCP/IP.

Ipconfig is simple and useful networking command that you can use to display or set
network information in Microsoft Windows (2000, XP, Vista, etc.).

It’s simple to use, just launch command prompt (cmd.exe), and you can type following
commands to use it:

ipconfig

Briefly show you the configured network adapter’s information, such as IP address, subnet mask and
gateway.

ipconfig /all –

Show detailed information of network adapter that includes IP address, subnet mask, gateway,
DNS, DHCP, MAC address, etc.

a) Record the following TCP/IP information for your computer:

i. IP address:
ii. Subnet mask:
iii. Default gateway:
b) Compare your computer’s TCP/IP configuration to that of others on the LAN and
answer the following questions:
i. Are there any similarities?
Ans:
Default gateway same because we are connected to the same device.
ii. What is similar about the IP addresses?
Ans:
IP addresses is different by a single number. Because I have connected my device first.
iii. What is similar about the default gateway?
Ans: Same.
iv. Record a couple of the IP addresses (of your nearby hosts)
Ans:

192.168.184.1
192.168.42.251
TASK 02
a) Record the additional TCP/IP information for your system and compare your
result with a few nearby computers. What similarities do you see in the physical?
(MAC) address?
Ans:
The ip address of my device is: 192.168.137.1

The ip address of a near by device is :10.110.173.230

Which is different.
Write down the computer’s host name:
Ans: DESKTOP-2B1SQM9

Write down the host names of a couple of another computer:

Ans: Ali
