CHAPTER 3

RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODOLOGY

This is the chapter where you can find the methodology that will be use in the
study. It includes research methods, data analysis, sources of data, and
gathering procedures.

Research instrument

The instrument used to collect data was the questionnaire. It was used because
it gathered data faster and easier than any other methods. Respondents could
read and answer the questionnaire with ease.

The researchers prepared their own questionnaire. The draft of the questionnaire
was drawn out based on their findings, readings, reviewed published and
unpublished studies relevant to the studies. The researchers found that there
were enough information to collect data to answer all the specific questions in the
statement of the problem. So, the researchers submitted the draft of the
questionnaire to the adviser to check and finalize it.

To validate the questionnaire, the researchers submitted a copy of questionnaire

to their research adviser and he is interviewed to find out if all the questions were
clear, objective, not biased and relevant to the research problem. Afterwards, the
questions were revised for more clarity.

Then, the copies of questionnaires were distrusted by the researchers to the

respondents personally.

Research Method

This study used quantitative and qualitative method of the research and
questionnaire. This study used a questionnaire which is appropriate method in
gathering data regarding the employability of San Miguel Senior High School
graduates of school year 2017-2018. Hence, data were gathered from the
selected graduates of batch 2017-2018.

RESPONDENTS

The data were gathered from the graduates of batch 2017-2018 of San

Miguel National High School in Senior High School. In each strand, the selected

graduates answered the given questionnaire through proportionate sampling to

determine the present status of the graduates of batch 2017-2018 of San Miguel

National High School.

In determining the number of employed and those who pursue their

vocational and bachelor degree, percentage is used to get the exact number.

The formula is shown below:

X- Number of respondents

N- Total number of respondents

P =X/N × 100%

Validity And Reliability

Reliability and validity are two essential components of any research study ..

Reliability refers to the consistency of the results across different settings,

methods, and researchers, while validity refers to how accurately the study

measures what it sets out to measure. Thus, in order to determine the reliability

and validity of studies on employability researchers need to use

rigoroushttps://vt.tiktok.com/ZSLhFGYG3/ and systematic methods to collect and

analyze data.

One study that examined the reliability and validity measures of employability

was conducted by Tentama and Anindita. Employability is measured in three

dimensions, namely career identity, personal adaptability, and social and human

capital. The data collection method uses an employability scale. Data analysis

was performed using the SmartPLS 3.2.8 program with reflective constructs

through the 2nd Order CFA. Data were obtained from 90 students of Sungai

Raya Vocational High School 1, Kubu Raya, West Kalimantan. Based on the

results of the analysis of the construct validity and the construct reliability, the

aspects and indicators that make up the employability are declared valid and

reliable. This shows that all dimensions and existing indicators can reflect and

shape employability. The dominant dimension that can reflect employability

construction is personal adaptability. The lowest aspect that reflects employability

in students is the social and human capital aspect, with a loading factor of 0.831.

Thus the model can be accepted because the theory that describes employability

is by the empirical data obtained.

They found that both surveys had good reliability and validity, indicating that they

were measuring what they were supposed to measure and were consistent

across different settings and methods.

Overall, these studies suggest that measures of employability can be reliable and

valid if they are developed and administered using rigorous and systematic

methods. This is important for ensuring that the results of research studies on

employability are accurate and can be used to inform practice and policy

decisions.

STATISTICAL TREATMENT

The data gathered were tallied, analyzed, and interpreted. Frequency, variables

and category used to describe the typicality of responses. This study used a

Kaplan–Meier estimate to compare the duration of employed and unemployed

graduates. To assess whether there is a real difference between employed or

pursuing higher education after graduation .

Frequency. (Zulueta and Costales 2003). This is a tool that counts or tallies the

frequency of a certain variable. This tool was used in the organizations of the

respondents personal information. This is the number of times that something

happens within a certain amount of time.1

Percentage. This statistical tool is used to determine and show the relationship of

a part of a number from a sum. 2

In determining the number of respondents, Percentage used to get the exact

respondents. The formula is shown below:

N- Total number of respondents
