What are Hand Tools?


- Hand tools are any of the
implements used by
craftsperson in manual
operations, such as
chopping, chiseling,
sawing, filing, or forging.

Preparation of Hand Tools

- Tools help you make work easy,


with less effort but with efficient
results. Without the needed
tools, much time is consumed
and more effort is required to
accomplish your task.

Cleaning tools - This tools help remove


dirt or grimes in your tools or materials

Example of cleaning tools would be:


Scraper, Utility rag, Steel wire brush

BENDING/HOLDING/TWISTING -
These tools can either bend, hold, twist
metals.
Examples of these kind of tools are:
Pliers, Bench vise

Cutting tools - Tools that can cut any

task.

Common Faults in Hand Tools:

Metal Fatigue - Caused by overuse of


metals and too much force which tools
cannot endure and becomes more
unserviceable

Natural Tear and Wear - Tools or


metals overtime can cause tears and
reduce in size.

Corrosion - Tools or metals that are


kept unmaintained may become rusty
especially tools that are not kept dry and
clean.
