Laser light localizer option 0

CAUTION Laser emissions!

This product contains class 2 lasers. (USA: Laser class 2)
Disregarding safety precautions can lead to bodily injury,
especially to the retina of the eye, resulting in irreversible
damage to vision.
¹ Observe the safety information in ARTD-002.731.03...
When working with the laser light localizer, do not look
directly into the laser beam.

NOTE Laser emissions!

There is no direct hazard to the eye (blinking reflex). Never-
theless, do not look directly into the laser beam.

Protective conductor resistance test 0

After all work has been completed and all covers have been installed, perform the protec-
tive conductor test according to ARTD-002.731.17... The protective conductor resistance
may not exceed 0.2 Ohms.

General information 1.1

Validity of these instructions 0

• These adjustment instructions pertain to the startup of a laser light localizer at an

ARCADIS Avantic system.
• They also serve as adjustment instructions for laser light localizer service and mainte-
nance.
¹ Therefore, keep them in a safe place.

Required measuring equipment and aids 0

• Tool kit (including a set of metric Allen keys)

• Protective conductor meter, e.g. Bender UNIMET 1000, material number 05138727.

ARCADIS Avantic configuration: 0

• Switch on the system and wait for it to boot up.

• Open local service and log in.
• Click menus <Main System>-<Configuration>-<Options>.
• Set "Laser Existing" to <yes> and click <Save>.
• After the change, save a new backup of the parameters on the system backup CD.

Functional Test 0

The ARCADIS Avantic system is operational.

• Switch on the laser light localizer via the laser light localizer button on the base unit con-
trol console.
¹ The two laser diodes light up.
• Switch off the laser light localizer again with the laser light localizer button.
¹ The two laser diodes go off.
• Switch on the laser light localizer again with the laser light localizer button and leave it
on for 5 minutes.
¹ The two laser diodes remain on for approx. 5 minutes, and then switch off auto-
matically.

Adjusting the laser light fan beams to the I.I. grid 0

C-arm position
• Set the C-arm to the 0 degree angulation position.
• Set the C-arm to the 0 degree orbital position.
¹ The C-arm is perpendicular, POWERPHOS below, I.I. above.

• Move the excenter (1 und 2 /Fig. 1 / p. 7) to the "zero position".
• Loosen the screws (3/Fig. 1 / p. 7) until the laser diodes can be turned in their holders.

NOTICE Important!
¹ Do not turn the lenses of the laser diodes.

• Turn the diodes in the holder until the laser light fan beams are reflected on the I.I. as
shown in (Fig. 2 / p. 8). The laser light fan beams begin at (X /Fig. 2 / p. 8). This setting
ensures that the laser light fan beams cross near the laser light localizer.
• Retighten the screws (3/Fig. 1 / p. 7).

• Turn the diodes in the holders until the laser light fan beams are reflected on the I.I. as
shown in (Fig. 4 / p. 9). The laser light fan beams begin at (X /Fig. 4 / p. 9). The setting
ensures that the laser light fan beams cross near the laser light localizer.
• Retighten the screws (3/Fig. 3 / p. 9)

Checking the laser light beam at the image intensifier 0

This check is to be performed according to (Fig. 5 / p. 10).

¹ The laser light fan beams have to intersect at the center of the mounting screw.
¹ The laser light fan beams should begin at the (1 und 2 /Fig. 5 / p. 10) positions.

NOTE After placing the POWERPHOS cover back on, the fan beams
of the laser light localizer are shadowed slightly at the (1 und
2 /Fig. 5 / p. 10) positions (I.I. edge). This is a design issue
and cannot be corrected. However, it does not negatively
impact use of the laser light localizer in normal operation.

Installing the covers 0

• Install the POWERPHOS cover and secure it with the cover screws. Reseal the POW-
ERPHOS cover with silicone sealing compound.

NOTE The POWERPHOS cover slightly shadows the laser light fan
beams at the I.I. edge. This is a design issue and cannot be
corrected. However, it does not negatively impact use of the
laser light localizer in normal operation.

Storing documents 0

• Store these adjustment instructions in register 4, "Start-up" of the ARCADIS Avantic

system folder. These adjustment instructions can be used for adjustment procedures
during subsequent service and maintenance work.

Functional Test 0

The ARCADIS Avantic system is operational.

• Switch on the laser light localizer via the laser light localizer button on the base unit con-
trol console.
¹ The two laser diodes light up.
• Switch off the laser light localizer again with the laser light localizer button.
¹ The two laser diodes go off.
• Switch on the laser light localizer again with the laser light localizer button and leave it
on for 5 minutes.
¹ The two laser diodes remain on for approx. 5 minutes, and then switch off auto-
matically.

Protective conductor resistance test 0

• Perform the protective conductor resistance test for the entire ARCADIS Avantic sys-
tem.
¹ The protective conductor resistance must not exceed 0.2 ohms.

Mechanical safety 0

• Ensure that the laser light localizer is labeled as described in this document. Replace
any labels that are damaged.
• Check the I.I. ring as well as the removable grid for mechanical damage.
• Check the laser beam exit window at the tube cover for damage.
• Ensure that the laser light fan beams are set as described in this document.

Operating values, inspection 0

• Check the function of the "Laser light localizer on/off" button on the base unit control
console.
• Switch the laser light localizer back on.
¹ The laser diodes must shut off automatically after 5 minutes.
