1. INSTALLING PRECAUTIONS
1-1. Before Installing
• This machine is intended for connecting and using with collator DC-10/60, DC-8/32 or
DSF-2000.
It cannot be connected with other models.
• Before starting installation, turn OFF the power switches on this machine and the upstream
unit, and disconnect the power cords from the outlet.
• Make sure that the power supply voltage and frequency in your area match the power
requirements indicated on the main name plate of the unit.
• If moving the control panel, perform "5. MOVING THE CONTROL PANEL" first.

1-2. Installation Location


• Install the equipment in a place where the floor is strong enough to bear the mass of the
unit, which is as follows:
• 412kg/908lb

• Requirement for installation space is as follow:


• When not used : 1610 (W) x 770 (D) mm / 63.39 (W) x 30.31 (D) inch
When used : 2230 (W) x 865 (D) mm / 87.80 (W) x 34.06 (D) inch (includes belt stacker)

• Install the equipment in a horizontal and stable position.

• Do not install the equipment near heaters or other heat-emitting appliances.

• Install and use the equipment in an environment:


• where the temperature range is between 5 and 35°C/41 and 95°F,
• where the relative humidity range is between 10 and 85%RH (no dew condensation),
• which is not subject to direct sunlight,
• which is subject to little or no vibration,
• where there are no harmful chemicals,
• which is reasonably free from dust,
• which is free from air-borne salt, and
• where the equipment is not exposed to water.

1-3. Power Supply


• This equipment shall be installed near the socket-outlet where the plug on the power
supply cord is easily accessible.

• Make sure the power supply used is always within the following range.
• 220-240V AC 50Hz/120V AC 60Hz

• When you power other appliances from the same AC outlet, make sure that the combined
power consumption does not exceed the power supply capacity.
• Rated power of this equipment : 3.8A/6.5A

3. CHECKING THE ROM
Check the ROM of the upstream unit.
For details on the checking method, refer to the maintenance manual for each upstream unit.

DC-10/60 BG-compatible
Check the ROM version.
If the ROM drawing number is “11A-8032*” and the last digit “*” is “5” or below, replace with a ROM above “6”.
There is no need to replace the ROM if the last digit is “6” and above.

DC-10/60 non-BG compatible (Machine Serial No.0207 * * * * or younger)


There is a need to replace the ROM.
Replace with a ROM for DC-10/60.

DC-8/32
Check the ROM version.
If the ROM drawing number is “11A-8032*” and the last digit “*” is “2” or below, replace with a ROM for DC-8/32.
There is no need to replace the ROM if the last digit is “3” and above.

DSF-2000
Check the ROM version.
If the ROM drawing number is “99T-8003*”, “99T-8020*” or “99T-8040*”, there is a need to replace the MC board.
Replace with a MC board for DSF-2000.
There is no need for replacement if the ROM drawing number is “99T-8050*”.

4. INSTALLATION PROCEDURE
If moving the control panel, perform “5. MOVING THE CONTROL PANEL” first.

4-1. Before Installation

1 Remove the fixing plate securing the main [Paper insert side]
body and base.
Of the ten screws securing the fixing plate, eight
are used for attaching the level adjusters and two
for attaching the connecting plate.

2 Attach the level adjusters.


Use the screws that were used for securing the
fixing plate.

shown.

The paper guide wheel unit comes in two sizes; for


normal booklet size and small one.

4-3. Connecting with DC-10/60, DC-8/32

1 Attach the harness to DC-10/60, DC-8/32.

1 Remove the rear cover.

2 Insert one end of the harness into the terminal Board inside collator

harness coming through the opening.

with a screw that was used for the blanket
plate.

6 Connect the E port cable and set the dip switches of the relay board.

Non BC-compatible system

If any one machine in the system is not BG-compatible, then the whole system is not BG-compatible.
 Set both dip switches SW1 and SW2 of the relay board of all machines to “ON”.
 Do not connect all E port cables.
 Set the BG setting of all BG-compatible units to “OFF”.
For details on BG settings, refer to the installation manual for each machine.

BG-compatible system

If all the machines in the system are BG-compatible, then the system is BG-compatible.
 The dip switch settings of the relay board of each machine differ according to the system configuration.
Set the upstream at the front and the downstream at the back in accordance with the paper flow.
Machine in front: SW1: ON, SW2: OFF
Machine at most back: SW1: OFF, SW2: ON
For other machines, set both SW1 and SW2 to OFF.
 Connect the E port cable between all the machines.

7 Insert the power plug of DBM-500 into the outlet.

Note Do not connect the power plug of DBM-500 to the power supply of DC-10/60 and DC-8/32, otherwise
malfunctions may occur.

8 Set the DBM-500 horizontal using the bolt


so that it does not move during opera-
tions.
Using the spanner provided, loosen the nut of the
bolt.
Place a plate under the bolt, and screw the bolt so
that it touches the plate. Tighten the nut so that the

9 Set the models connected on the control panel of DC-10/60 and DC-8/32. (Refer to the instruction
manual of DC-10/60, DC-8/32)

How to turn ON the power of your system


A. When connecting with collators ( DC -10/60, DC-8/32 ) ONLY

First of all, set the POWER switches of both the collator ( including following collators ) and DBM-500 to OFF, and
the both REMOTE switches to " ".

2. Turn ON the POWER switch of the DBM-500.


3. Turn ON the POWER switch of the collator ( including following collators if any ).
4. Switch the REMOTE switch of the collator ( the top tower only ) to " I ".

B. When connecting with collators ( DC -10/60, DC-8/32 ) and the trimmer ( DBM-500T)

First of all, set all the POWER switches of the collator ( including following collators ), the trimmer, and DBM-500 to
OFF, and all the REMOTE switches to " ".

2. Turn ON the POWER switch of the trimmer.


3. Turn ON the POWER switch of the DBM-500.
4. Turn ON the POWER switch of the collator (including following collators if any).
5. Switch the REMOTE switch of the trimmer to " I ".
6. Switch the REMOTE switch of the collator (the top tower only) to " I ".

5 Perform the size change at DBM-500. EXIT

6 Press the C key in the main menu to clear the

7 When connecting with the DBM-500T trimmer, 10 11 SWITCH

Note If the relay board settings are incorrect, or if the E port cable is not connected correctly, DBM-500, DBM-500T,
and the collator will show an error message “Relay Trouble” or “Cable Trouble” on the panel.
If this occurs, you should clear the error at DBM-500 or DBM-500T according to its maintenance mode.

This ends the installation of DC-10/60 and DC-8/32.


Begin operations referring to the instruction manual.

1 Attach the connecting plate B to DBM-500.

When connecting the DCM (Digital Color Media) kit

1 Connect the D port connector-2 of DSF-2000 and D port connector-1 of DCM kit with the D port cable provided
with the DCM kit.
2 Connect the D port connector-2 of the DCM kit and D port connector-1 of DBM-500 with the D port cable.
3 When connecting DBM-500T, connect the D port connector-2 of this machine and D port connector-1 of DBM-
500T with the D port cable provided with the DBM-500T.

5 Connect the E port cable and set the dip switches of the relay board.
1 Set the dip switches of the relay board of this machine as follows:
SW1: ON
SW2: OFF when connecting DBM-500T, ON when not.
 DSF-2000 is not mounted with a relay board, because this setting is not required
 When connecting DBM-500T, set the dip switches of the relay board of DBM-500T as follows:
SW1: OFF
SW2: ON
2 When connecting DSF-2000 only, do not connect the E port cable.
When connecting DBM-500T, connect the E port connector-2 of this machine and E port connector-1 of DBM-
500T using the E port cable provided with DBM-500T.

6 Insert the power plug of DBM-500 into the outlet.

7 Set the model connected on DSF-2000 control panel.


1 Turn ON the power of DSF-2000.
2 Enter the maintenance menu, taking the following steps.
Press the “Escape key” on the initial screen. Rotate the jog dial to the right by three clicks and press the “Clear
button”. The buzzer sounds beep. Next, rotate to the left by five clicks, and press the “Clear button”. The buzzer
sounds beep, beep and “Maintenance Menu” is displayed. If entered incorrectly halfway through, press the
“Escape button” several times to begin again from the initial screen.

3 Rotate the jog dial and display “System Setting”, the press the jog dial.

• When connecting DBM-500 only
Rotate the jog dial and display “System +1”, and press the jog dial.
Rotate the jog dial and select “DBM500”, and press the jog dial.

Rotate the jog dial and display “System +2”, and press the jog dial.

Rotate the jog dial and set the value to “144”, and press the jog dial.

8 Set the paper size of each DBM-500 memory number to DSF-2000 settings.

 There is no need to change Memory No. 11 and 12.

After completing the above, turn OFF the power of DSF-2000.

9 Set the DBM-500 horizontal using the bolt


so that it does not move during opera-
tions.
Using the spanner provided, loosen the nut of the
bolt.
Place a plate under the bolt, and screw the bolt so
that it touches the plate. Tighten the nut so that the Spanner
plate does not move.

Begin operations referring to the instruction manual.

When connecting the DCM (Digital Color Media) kit

1 Secure one end of the air pipe tube unit as shown in the figure.
2 Pull out the other end through the hole.

The tip to 17 mm/0.7 inch,


and secure with screw

6 Replace the connectors of the main board.

2 Remove the lock.
3 Rotate the lever in arrow direction A, and
remove the switch in arrow direction B.

4 Rotate the nut, and remove the knob.

9 Unscrew the two screws, open the main
