ABSTRACT
Industrial training is an important phase of a student life. A well planned, properly
executed and evaluated industrial training helps a lot in developing a professional attitude. It
develops an awareness of industrial approach to problem solving, based on a broad
understanding of process and mode of operation of organization. The aim and motivation of
this industrial training is to receive discipline, skills, teamwork and technical knowledge
through a proper training environment, which will help me, as a student in the field of
Mechanical engineering, to develop a.

I have undergone my industrial In Hail Stone Innovation Pvt.Ltd . from 11th May to
07th June 2023 (4 weeks). Hail Stone Innovation Pvt.Ltd is a major manufacturer in the
crushing, mining and mineral processing industries. In the company, I was placed in
Assembly Department under an industrial supervisor, Mr.Anoop.

One of the most important lessons learnt during my industrial training is that
engineers need to know more than their own field of expertise in order to be more competent
and able to have better cooperation with engineers of other fields in the industry. Moreover,
safety in always be stressed for workers regardless of rank and position at the plant.
Engineers must always check and analyses any data given, in order to detect any
inconsistency or discrepancy, and to determine whether the data obtained is logical and
acceptable. All in all, this industrial training has given me the valuable insight of being a
professional engineer.

1. INTRODUCTION
1.1 COMPANY PROFILE

We are a fast paced organization specialized in engineering, designing, fabrication, and


manufacturing of capital equipment. With an agile approach and global presence, we
have been able to achieve and maintain sustained growth for some time now. We are
constantly investing in our company, improving quality at every stage of the process, and
implementing innovative technologies.

1.2. TRAINING OBJECTIVE

The importance of industrial training needs no emphasis. One of the characteristics of


modern scenario is the increasing rapidity of change. This intensifies the need for study,
adaptation and training. For an engineering student the practical training is as important as the
theoretical knowledge and sometimes more than the theory part. The practical training not
only makes a student familiar with the atmosphere and conditions of industry but sufficiently
increases his/her knowledge by providing a sense of confidence and motivation. The main
object of all industrial trainings is to prepare an individual so that he/she can accomplish
his/her task efficiently and effectively and can take up and handle jobs of higher
responsibility. Training is an act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for
doing a particular job. The major outcome of training is learning. A trainee learns new habits,
refined skills and useful knowledge during the training that helps him/her as improved

performance. Training enables an individual to do his/her present job more efficiently and be
prepared for higher level job. Training is a planned programme designed to improve
performances and bring about measurable changes in knowledge, skill, attitude and social
behaviour of an individual.

I personally feel proud and happy in writing this training report that I have completed
my training in such a good organisation which taught me so many useful things.

2. VARIOUS DEPARTMENT OF COMPANY


Every organisation is made up of different department. Each department contributes to
the running of the business. The most common departments are:

 Production
 Marketing & Sales
 Finance
 Human resource

2.1. PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

The production department is responsible for converting inputs into outputs through
the stages of production processes. The Production Manager is responsible for making sure
that raw materials are provided and made into finished goods effectively. He or she must
make sure that work is carried out smoothly, and must supervise procedures for making work
more efficient and more enjoyable.

There are five production sub-functions

2.1.1. Production and planning.

They will set the standards and targets at each stage of the production process. The
quantity and quality of products coming off a production line will be closely monitored.

2.1.2. Purchasing department

This department will provide the materials, components and equipment required. An
essential part of this responsibility is to ensure that stocks arrive on time and are of good
quality

2.1.3. The stores department

The stores department are responsible for stocking all the necessary tools, , raw
materials and equipment required to service the manufacturing process.

2.1.4. The design and technical support department

They are responsible for the design and testing of new product processes and product
types, together with the development of prototypes through to the final product.

2.1.5. The works department

This department is concerned with the manufacture of products. This will include the
maintenance of the production line and other necessary repairs. The works department may
also have responsibility for quality control and inspection.

2.2. HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT

The role of Human resource department is in charge of recruiting, training, and the
dismissal of employees in an organisation.

 Recruitment and selection


 Training programmes

Training programs are held by the HRD to improve the employees skills, as well as to
motivate them. There are three main types of training :

 Induction training
 On-the- job training
 Off-the-job training

2.2.1. Manpower Planning

The HR department needs to think ahead and establish the number and skills of the
workforce required by the business in the future. Failure to do this could lead to too few or too
many staff or staff with inappropriate needs.

2.2.2. Dismissal and Redundancy (retrenchment)

Dismissal is where a worker is told to leave their job due to unsatisfactory work or
behaviour. Redundancy is when the business needs to reduce the number of employees either
because it is closing down a branch or needs to reduce costs due to falling profits. It may also
be due to technological improvements, and the workers are no longer needed.

2.3. MARKETING DEPARTMENT

These are the main section of the market departments:

 Sales department is responsible for the sales and distribution of the products to the
different regions.

 Research & Department is responsible for market research and testing new products
to make sure that they are suitable to be sold.
 Promotion department decides on the type of promotion method for the products,
arranges advertisements and the advertising media used.
 Distribution department transports the products to the market.

2.4. FINANCE DEPARTMENT

 Book keeping procedures: Keeping records of the purchases and sales made by a
business as well as capital spending.
 Preparing Final Accounts : Profit and loss account and Balance Sheets
 Providing management information: Managers require ongoing financial
information to enable them to make better decisions.
 Management of wages: The wages section of the finance department will be
responsible for calculating the wages and salaries of employees and organising the
collection of income tax and national insurance for the Inland Revenue.
 Raising Finance: The finance department will also be responsible for the technical
details of how a business raises finance e.g. through loans, and the repayment of
interest on that finance. In addition it will supervise the payment of dividends to
shareholders.

3. PRODUCTS
3.1. JAW CRUSHER

The jaw crusher is ideally suited for commercial and industrial applications that
require a high-production primary crusher. Jaw crushers are used in a wide variety of
applications, including construction and recycling demolition, quarrying and mining, asphalt
production, etc. It is designed to process large feed size and withstand lower wear from
abrasive material without sacrificing the output at high performance level. Our jaw crushers
are engineered with a unique combination of features to provide maximum productivity at the
lowest operating costs possible.

3.2. VIBRATING SCREEN

3.3. VSI CRUSHER


The VSI crushers are very popular in the mining industry. They are often seen as the
last step of the crushing circuit, but this does not mean that they do not have a significant
role in contributing to the production. Their rock-on-rock crushing that is proven to produce
materials with precise and homogenous shape is especially useful for producers who are after
cubical end products used for example in concrete, asphalt, groundwork materials,
manufactured sand, heap leaching, pre-grinding, industrial minerals, and recycling
applications.

3.4. BCD
The Hailstone BCD series sand washing machines are suitable for industries that
require or bottleneck on clean or select grade sand, as they can improve the sand quality by
washing out the tiny stone powder and impurities mixed in the sand getting from natural
sources or from a sand-making machine like sand cones or VSI.

3.5. CONE CRUSHER

3.6. ADD WASH


The Add wash has a high performance, heavy duty hydrocyclone system with the
ability to process high volumes of material. It is ideal for use in silt production and wet

5. CONCLUSION
The Internship enabled us to a fresh new practical approach to the fields of
Mechanical engineering and production technology. The training helped us to get in touch
with the various trends in the field of mechanical engineering. It equipped us to overcome
the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical working conditions. I went to the
company as part of the internship. Hailstone began with a maintenance division in 1990s.
Since then, Hailstone has grown to become a major manufacturer in the crushing, mining
and mineral processing industries. Since moving to Palakkad, Kerala in 2020, the facility has
grown to over 170,000 sq.ft with over 100 pieces of equipment.
In a nutshell, this internship has been an excellent and rewarding experience. I can
conclude that there have been a lot I’ve learnt from my work at Hailstone. Needless to say,
the technical aspects of the work I’ve done are not flawless and could be improved
provided enough time.
