Risk is the likelihood that a person will be harmed or have a negative effect on health if
exposed to danger. It may also apply to situations with loss of goods or equipment or
with harmful effects on the environment. For example, smoking affects the health of the
lungs and in the most common cases of cancer.
A hazard is any potential source of damage, injury or adverse health effects on a person
or person. Basically, a hazard is the potential for harm or an adverse effect (for example,
for people as health effects, for organizations as loss of goods or equipment, or for the
environment).
